Even though I've been subscribed to the forum for a while, this is my first post. I want to thank the administrators of the group for keeping it going.
After pouring over threads and searching for many years I finally figured it out and found a G that suits me. It's a 2012 X sedan, Malbec Black, light beige interior w/45,000 kilometers, no nav. I've had it for about 10 days and am very happy with it. Already put 1200 miles on it.
My question is: do modern Ipods work with the stereo interface? I have an ipod classic that works pretty well. I really like the song information on the display. I know about the Grom solutions and would be interested to hear how that has worked out for folks. Yes, I have searched and haven't seen anything recently posted regarding this. I'm mostly concerned with forgetting my old Hdd spinning disk Ipod in the car in cold weather. Switching the old mp3 player to ssd is a possibility.
I guess I'll try an Ipod touch to see how it works.
I didn't know anything about Yvan Lacroix until you mentioned him. He seems like an interesting guy. Always looking for detailing tricks.
Granby, Qc is almost six hours drive from where I live in Peterborough, Ontario. It's a sweet little town with a lot of car dealerships at the foot of a mountain. The car was listed in Facebook marketplace. The original pictures showed a very dirty, unwashed car. A possible trip to see the car seemed a bit risky with Covid spikes and the language barrier being formidable obstacles. Quebec had put up restrictive roadblocks to limit travel to hotspots not long ago, the province was considering whether to reinstitute those measures when I was contemplating the trip.
Here in Canada, I've looked at lots of G37s that were pretty beaten up. I had a hunch this would be a good one. Got the dealer to detail the car and send some pictures. As soon as I saw those, I booked a rental car. Luckily there was an Enterprise office near the dealer. The salesman told me the car was owned by a priest. I was sure he was giving me a line, turns out it was true! The sales contract was in French. That was a little scary. They had someone to help translate but still...
I wasn't sure which G I wanted. Glad I went with the sedan. For me, it's the perfect mix of luxury, comfort and sport. The XS coupe was calling for a while but, I am very happy with this choice.
