Hi all - my First Ever Infiniti

So I'm a huge Ford Mustang guy, I have a fully restored foxbody notchback (mostly handling and braking mods, probably only 220rwhp at this point) and a 2017 GT with full exhaust, suspension mods and tune. I needed a fun car that can handle snow/ice and not bore me to death. Naturally the G37x was the perfect selection. Lots of power, good handling and nice amenities. Dang it's faster than my 5.0 Foxbody! lol Now I'm a huge G37 fan and couldn't be happier. In fact when the time is right, I'd like to replace the family SUV with a newer Q50 in a few years and I hope to keep my 2011 for at least 3 seasons (it has 77k miles)...

Here's the "new to me" 2011 G37x. I really enjoy this car. Not planning on any mods except maybe exhaust, window tint and I changed the steelies for wheels for the winter.
Hi all - my First Ever Infiniti-059gge6.jpg

Cheers

You'll need a G37 savings account of about $4k. $2500 for the inevitable engine oil galley gasket failure repair and another $1200 to replace the inevitable blown diff bushing (assuming you use a dealership).

lol thanks for the info... are these very common issues? I typically do my own work unless it's on warranty.

that foxbody brings back good memories of highschool for me..it may not be as fast the the G but looks like way more fun

Slarti is not wrong but I wouldn't worry about the $4k too much....I'm about to hit 175k miles on my G with the HR engine which is allegedly suceptable to the same failure being an even earlier iteration of the VHR...its really hit or miss....I'm more concerned with the water pump going at this point than that $10 gasket...that being said the location of the water pump and that gasket have the worst access I've ever seen on a car and require taking apart the entire front end and at least a couple dozen hours of labour...most people cant DIY this one

For the diff bushing you can live with it even if its blown out...most people who do tackle it use a $100 after market poly bushing and use the DIY's on here to swap it out (Shop charges for this job is about $350- $500ish)

It's almost like a water pump on an old 302 ford that leaked for a while and one of those long bolts break in the block... talk about hours! lol

Same. Well, late college, actually, but still... both of those Mustangs are head turners. Love that ’87 with the notchback instead of the hatch. The '87 GT was a bit of a mess, IMO, but the notchback was clean.

Welcome to the forum, OP. From the looks of the wheels on the Fords, those 17" Journey wheels won't be around for long.

Rusty little calipers over drilled rotors... that's kind of odd. Must drive you nuts.

If it ever happens (gasket) and you feel up for it, there's a DIY video posted on the forum.
