2013 Vert Sport Model; 15,800 miles on it. In service date Sep 5, 2013. Dealer serviced (big deal, 5 oil changes etc) but still good. 28000 plus I pay my state taxes/tags. An additional $2100 for the 8 year Wrap (do I need it? I think yes for peace of mind on the top)
Deal or no deal? This is the price negotiated. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADVICE!
Considering all the ones I looked at on the east coast from Florida to NY, I am not so sure. That is why I am asking. All 2013s, and base convertible models:
31,000 miles $26000
23,000 miles $28000 carvana scam not certified no warranty
31,000 miles $23000 carvana scam not certified and been in a wreck
27,000 miles $28,000 infiniti certified
21,000 miles $ 28,000 at a car max no thanks
30,000 miles $28,000 infiniti certified
18,000 miles $26,500 been in a wreck
All the above are the base models; the one I have targeted in a sport model. Does this make a real difference? I know these are "asking" prices but they all have been on the market for at least 30 days so perhaps these are not what I could "get" these cars for. But they all started out at higher prices, per Cargurus.com
I contacted most of the ones above, and most have budged all they can, best case is one dealer will come down $500; one won't come down anymore except to give me a $100 credit for a nasty scratch on it that won't buff out. Thanks, buddy on that go sell it to someone else.
The one I am considering has 14,800 miles (i listed 15,800 but that was a mis-type). It started at 31,500 in late fall and is listed at 28,900. The best I could squeeze this Infiniti dealer for was down to 28,000.
NADA (I know - just a guide and most don't pay this price) on a 2013 Sport with this mileage is $30,950. 28k is about a grand more than I care to spend, but a grand in the scheme of things isn't a big deal, when considering the one I am targeting has the lowest mileage by 50% minimum, of most of the others; is a Sport rather than a base model (big deal? or is this a big deal?) and has all service records from this dealership where is was brought in on a 3 year lease.
Am I an idiot to pay 28K for this, then pay 2100 for the 8 year Wrap warranty? It just seems that 27-30 is what they are going or will go for, so 28 on this low miles car is a decent deal.
I don't want to talk myself into this, and need to hear some opinions on this, please. You all are the experts. Not me as I am new to the forum. Hell if this was a Yamaha jet boat I would provide a dissertation on pricing!
Again, thanks.
On another note, this is a 4th car for me, kind of like a fun weekend type car to drive to the beach. Pretty reliable and fun? I am used to Hondas which run forever on basic maintenance.
Of, if it makes a difference this is a convertible G37 not a hardtop
Thanks!
I'm assuming it's an automatic transmission? Sport package is definitely what you want. Has the most options and the more aggressive features. When I looked it up on NADA, if it is in absolutely perfect condition, at $28,000, it seems that's a pretty good deal. I'm not savvy on the convertibles but from what I understand, the tops are very prone to breaking - not sure what the best route for warranty is though so hopefully others will chime in and offer some more info.
I use CarGurus as well and in some instances, you can see : how long it's been listed and how long it's been with that dealer. If it's been sitting for awhile (2-3 months) then see if you can whittle them down lower. If it's a dealership, they'll be eager to move it off the lot. Also if you can, find out if an area is struggling economically. For example, I drove to New Castle to get my G37 and was able to get a good deal since the area is struggling and the dealership was happy to be moving the car. Might not go much lower but perhaps another $500-1000?
The general consensus, the G37 is very reliable and tons of fun. Oil, breaks and tires kind of car. Occasional differential and transmission flush and it will run for quite awhile. Ranked #8 on the consumer reports ahead of Honda, Subaru and MB for 2016. It would make a great weekend vehicle.
Done. Thanks, Gentlemen. I did the whole cargurus thing, etc and was targeting a vert for about 2 months. They sit on cargurus for a few months at 30K plus, then they drop. This one started at 31,950 3 months ago, and eventually dropped to 28,950 where it sat for another month. Every last other one I looked at was a base model in the same price range, with 27-31000 miles. This is a sport model with half the mileage, at a huge dealership in a very wealthy northern city. The car will sell in the spring without a doubt. That's why I wanted to buy in the winter. Very few people are looking for convertibles in the north during the winter except cheapskates (savvy buyers?) like me. Screw it. I got them to 28K and they would not budge further despite what one might say was a strong and annoying effort to get them down further in price. Hey it's hard for me to part with my money! Since they would not budge off the 28K (down from 28950 listed price) I had to take it. I did get the wrap warranty for 2k, which I have no idea whether this is a good wrap price or not but for peace of mind it is good enough for me. All I know is the wrap will cover the roof until it expires in late 2021, so I don't have to worry about the roof. Hell I may sell it by 2012 anyway. So I am happy with the deal and I now have a bad ***, good looking Sport vert with only 14,800 miles on it. Thanks to you guys for kicking me in the ***. As my buddy told me, when you get the car, make sure you drive the hell out of it and enjoy it every day you can. Don't let it sit in the garage untouched. Should be some enjoyable rides to my beach house this coming season! Better yet, I was going to pay cash until they offered .99 percent financing, which in my book is free money for me......so WTF I will finance it with Infiniti's free money. Thanks for the push, guys. I hope I love this car!
Congratulations on the purchase! When looking at the numbers it seems like you got a pretty could deal compared to what NADA recommends for sale. Very fun car stock and very good looking to boot. Enjoy the drive! Obligatory : pics please?
Here are the dealer pics. I won't pick it up for a few weeks. Believe me, my last convertible was a 1986 Dodge Turbo 600 Eurosport SE which I loved so I will drive this and enjoy it, with top down whenever I can. Now that the kids have left the nest and I retired (sort of), I lost my take home police cruiser which I was able to drive anywhere for 30 years, and I am sick of driving around a 2002 Silverado (with only 50,000 miles on it due to rarely having to drive it other than trailering my jet boat - red, of course) so WTF, get a fun car, right? Thanks for the help in pushing me over the edge. As one of my buddies said "I regret not driving my Porsche convertible as often as I should have when I had it. My advice to you? Drive this car and enjoy the f out of it." I can' agree more. Again, thanks for the push and advice.
Genuinely happy for you. Never really cared for red but every year I find myself really wanting a red car. Fiance always shoots me down though ha ha. Were/are you an officer? If so, thank you for your service. Couple guys in my unit are C.O.s and D.C.,Baltimore, Anne Arundel, and Delaware police and I can see the toll that takes on a person.
30 years Montgomery County; final 21 as a midnight patrol sgt. Glad I am done with that crap, especially now. But things are finally looking up for the first time in many years in the country, so hopefully it will get better as the country moves forward. I wanted shadow grey but I had to take the first good deal that popped up, after looking for awhile so red it is. The added bonus I suppose is that it is a Sport Model, for whatever that is worth as I would have been happy with base.
I bet, we're looking forward to actually having long arms and proper vests on post...Sport model is definitely a plus though. Bigger breaks and the front fascia is very appealing
Great looking car!
I'm a huge fan of black (whether interior or exterior) with all the upkeep pains, but after moving south I decided to not have another black car - soo much easier to have white leather with summer heat. You'll see what I'm talking about after you leave the roof down in the direct sunlight.
