I've done some searching for a new battery but I need to buy one today after work.
I run a 1000 watt stereo amp and have a ton of things plugged into my cigarette lighters. My question is what brand battery are you using and what do you think is the best?

You'll get replies telling you how great Optima red or yellow batteries are. They're not bad, but they are expensive and not necessary. A reasonably priced good battery is Exide NASCAR extreme. The key is to buy the application for the M37. It's got greater capacity than the application for our cars but had the same configuration and will still fit in the space. They're grew and reasonably priced. I don't have access to the info right this moment but if you PM me I'll give you the part number. They sell them at most Home Depots now. I think it was about $100-120 or so.

EDIT: Global Extreme, not NASCAR Extreme comes in our size, 24F

Hell I just called an Infiniti dealership by my house. He said if your car is less then 4 years old and has less then 60.000 miles it's 100 percent covered. I'm heading down there today and will give an update..

Whatever battery you choose, you should invest in a batter tender/smart charger/whatever the proper name is.

Pump your brakes there gman. Dude probably told you that to get you down there into the service department and then and sell you an expensive battery from the parts department.

That's the one. It's a battery that will meet your needs as well as any Optima costing 2-3 times as much. And has a much better warranty to boot.

i threw in an optima red top a couple years ago. got it online on sale for ~$140 shipped i think. the price was close enough to other makes that i went for the red top. dealer wanted way more for their battery, of course.

it's a battery, it does what it is supposed to do even after my car has been sitting for a week or more. that's all i care about. so for me the red top gets a thumbs up if you can find a nice price.

wife had a yellow top in her CRV that we used for camping a lot. had good charge even after we had used accessories to inflate tubes, use the lights, etc.

I run a optima red top in my van, running 200 watts with a 2.5 ferret cap. battery lasted 7 years in Florida's, heat. Now I am running a Napa AMG Battery, so far so good, but only had it one year..
When I need to change the battery in the G, I will probably put in the optima, since I have a 1000 watt amp with a 4 ferret cap... and with all the electronics in the car.. I'll spend the little extra money for it..

I got this one last fall based on *YOUR* recommendation

Few months before I was trying to source it. Still shocked homedepot sells car batteries.

If you're going to buy an Optima, get a yellow top. They're worth the extra coin over the price of a red top, or a regular automotive battery for a high amp draw application. I've seen it proven in a police fleet, they outlast other batteries 3 to 1. If you don't really need it, it's a waste of money though. The only reason I bought one is that I get them ridiculously cheap.

#1 its farad, not ferret

#2 capacitors don't work and are more of a hindrance than a help.
