Total loss-need support

Hello, Im newly registered, but have used site as a resource for a few years. Sorry in advance if Im not posting correctly, just guide me and Ill learn.

My family was in an accident a few weeks ago. My 2011 G37 was sent into a power pole at 40 mph. Another driver made a left turn in front of us. Hubby was driving, i was in fr passenger, teen daughter in back. I think ive attached pics of my baby, damages were quoted at $24,900. Should get notice from adjuster on market value, but nothing they offer will be enough! This was my 2nd G, had an 04 g35 just before i bought this one 3MONTHS AGO! Hoping I get enough to at least pay off loan, and YES im planning to buy another one.

All airbags deployed, and from places i didnt know existed! They came from everywhere, and hurt like he!! by the way. This car died to save our lives, i almost passed out when i went to tow yard and saw damage. No G owner should ever have to see such horror. I was reclined, and took brunt of force but no major injuries-some ribs subluxated, whiplash, but otherwise will be ok. Daughter put shoulder strap behind her (tsk tsk) so she hit her face on back of my headrest. Hubby was in best shape of all of us, which says a ton about how safe this car is. Don't know how Ill get over this loss.

Im hoping other G lovers here can understand, its not just a car its more than that. Its like losing a piece of me, my identity.

Just wanted to share my story, how safe this car is, and to remind people to be safe when driving!! Interested in hearing thoughts from other owners.

Sorry for your loss. At least no one was seriously injured, maimed, or killed. Car did it's job.

I know for new cars there's something called gap insurance that covers the difference between what you owe and what the insurance pays. Not sure if this is available for used cars.

Assuming the other driver was entirely at fault, you could seek damages from them, including the difference. Probably best to consult an attorney.

wow!

WOW! I'm so glad you and your family are OK, the car can be replaced, more reason to get another G Sedan, it kept your family safe in a really bad accident. Check your financing for gap coverage to get safely out of your loan, if you have it

Sorry for the horrible accident but I'm glad you were okay, did you not have gap insurance with your loan well if you don't not sure if it's too late to get it but it's really important to have because they will cover whatever the insurance doesn't on your loan, I hope you find another car soon and I would seek an attorney to see if you can get as much as you can for damages from the other persons insurance I was actually in that situation and seeked an attorney and worked out well.

I'm truly speechless for words and am so happy that you and your family are all okay. I'm sure a majority of us understand exactly how you feel when it comes to the car being a part of your identity.

I didn't know the G had airbags all over the sides as well... I hope I'll never have to find out either. But I'm curious now if the coupe has that as well? I don't believe so.

Keep us updated on if insurance covers your loan and I hope and wish you and the family best of luck in your future G purchase.

RIP to a beautiful G sedan that did its job and protected you and your family. I definitely see a law suit, on your behalf, in your future if the other driver was 100% at fault.

Sure hope you get compensated properly for everything you've gone through. It's painful to see such damage but thankfully you were well protected.
Best of luck getting through this and be sure to post up how this turns out and what you end up with in the hopefully near future.

Wow, its tough to see the aftermath of such an accident. It's encouraging to know that you and your family made it through ok. I truly hope everything works out for you. My family knows too well the after effects of a accident that was not our fault it can be a lengthy process. Wishing you a quick recovery and best of luck finding a new G!

Kenny looks like the coupes and verts do have a wide array of airbags too. "The 2013 Infiniti G37 coupe features front, front side impact and side curtain airbags, as well as electronic traction and stability control; 4-wheel ABS; and a tire pressure monitoring system. The convertible has the same features except that its side curtain airbags are mounted in the doors, and it includes a set of pop-up rollover bars behind the rear seats that activate in the event of a rollover situation." Nice to know Infiniti is looking out for us!

Glad to hear that your family is okay. Remember that a car isn't worth anything near your loved ones! Let us know how your insurance companies handle the situation. I'm sure many members have some insight as to how you can avoid taking another big hit to your bank account.

WOW .. so glad you and your family are okay. I went through a similar situation (although not nearly as severe) Just know that when you get your replacement, the pain of losing your baby will start to fade.. Just chose it wisely and dont rush. T
he insurance company will make you an offer and then you will have a limited time to be out of the rental car they are paying for. Negotiate a little extra time within reason as needed. I would begin your search for a replacement car early if possible so that you hit the ground running. Even better if you can start the new car buying process before the settlement process with the insurance company gets in full swing. That will take some of the pressure off of you to settle for less than you deserve.

Thanks for the support!

We DO have gap on the car. The other driver was found 100% at fault. She only had minimum insurance ($5,000 in CA), so we are using my collision coverage. Thanks for the great tips and things to think about, i've never been in this situation before. I'll keep you all posted on how everything turns out.

So sorry for your loss (of the G that is). But thank goodness, you guys are okay. That crash was pretty intense, but your "baby" certainly did its job. Good thing you have gap insurance. Hopefully, you guys will be in a new G in no time.

All the best

That's great no one was seriously injured. That must have been a heck of an impact.

It makes me feel a little more safer driving my mom (diagnosed with dementia 6 years ago this month and doesn't drive anymore) around as she's in the car with me about 90% of the time. It's why i nicknamed our G "The Mom Mobile".

Hope everything works out for you and the family. Good luck....
