Newbie! I dont like that word!

Hey All! Got a 2012 G37X coupe! Love it!!! Just figuring out what I should do come time to replace pads and Im assuming the discs? Thats going to be the next thing up as she has 47k on her. Can the discs be ground? Should I do it myself? Advise? I am capable and if not I'm realizing the best thing to do is buy the right kit (suggestions?) and worst case find a capable mechanic. I also had some leaking of windows in heavy rains and car wash, above tweeters on both sides. I had the seals replaced under warranty but the dealer said she had never seen this before. Anyone else with this problem? At 47k any other things to watch for? Besides what the dealership might say!
Im excited to be on here and hope to learn about my new love! Funny enough my girlfriend is in love with her too!! Not in love enough however to circle the block for a half hour to find the perfect parking spot! City ain't easy on the G!

welcome what car did you have before the 37?

the leaks are kinda normal. i had a g35 before my 37 and the rubber door seal around the windows will wear out and leak. so its kinda a constant battle.

not sure about the brakes. if your rotors are above the min specs they prob can be turned, but i would just take it to a mechanic and have them measure the rotors.

Welcome to the site Newbie (lol) Part of being a Newbie is hating being called the newbie, but we've all been newbies around here at one point.

As far as brakes, if you don't mind wrenching it's simple enough, like hurley said, take the rotors to a shop to have turned if they have proper thickness. At 47k I doubt you'd need new ones. If you DIY the job KNSbrakes is a good vendor

Any good videos or how to's on model specific brake replacement? Any suggestions or links would be great! Im a handy guy but I always feel I need to see exactly what im doing. I know that there are certain things that need specs maintained. Are brakes one of them? I.e, tork on bolts etc etc...
Thanks!

+1 on KNS. They are local to me and I have bought rotors and picked them up- meeting them in person. All around good people there. I was running late one day and they suck around a little after business hours to make sure I got my rotors.

Nice G. I don't think you shouldn't need much done at 47k as long as all the fluids were done on time. If the brakes aren't pulsating or screeching they should be fine. You should be able to check the pad thickness. May have to take off the wheels. Yes the doors do tend to leak a little. May need to adjust the window sensor so the window goes up all the way when the doors are shut. Just have to hold up the window button up for about 5 secs.
