Hello, New to me, G37xS sedan

Hello to all,

Just joined the club with a 2009 xS sedan. Glad to find such a strong community here.

As far as I know, my car is stock. I picked it up from a dealer, who received it as a trade wearing only 25k miles. Unfortunately, it didn't come with maintenance records, but the car fax shows regular check ins at a local Infiniti dealer over the last 5+ years. I've had the car for about a month and nothing has popped up that concerns me, but I'd like to ask of there are any big items that I should have serviced when I get to 30k.

I plan on switching to synthetic oil at the next change, but how frequently do the transmission, cooling system, and brakes need to be flushed or serviced? And are there other things that should be done regularly to keep the car running optimally?

Also, I will probably look to install a SRI orStillen gen 3 CAI, and either an Ark or Stillen cat back exhaust. If I'm doing these, is an ECU tune needed or beneficial, and can I get away with waiting to tune until after both are installed? Or do I need to tune each time. I can afford the intake now, but will have to save some cash for the exhaust, so I'm wondering if it would be better to just wait and install both together.

Welcome to the site, congrats on your new G.
You can install the intake now, might also consider the Takeda CAI too. I'd install your exhaust and if you plan on High flow cats add them, then get your tune.

As far as service, hopefully your car came w/ the owners manual w/ maintenance log book, all the service intervals are in there.

The brake fluid should be fully changed (not just topped off) every couple years due to moisture. The transmission is "sealed" and should only be done at the dealer and the mileage varies greatly depending who you talk to. Some will say as early as 30k miles, all the way up to never. I have 70k miles on mine and will be doing the service @ 80k.

Welcome welcome. Congrats on your new ride.

Def wanna wait till your finished will all or most of your power mods before you get your tune. And it sounds like Blnewt is offering to install your exhaust himself so def take him up on that. Right Brad, that's what you meant right?? Or is it that i have just woken up and I'm mistaken..lol

Thanks for the welcome!

I've only got one pic at the moment from the day I bought it:

- Yep, I got the owners manual. The service journal wasn't used (i've never used them myself), so I guess my question was do I need to worry about anything the previous owner might have skipped. You pretty much answered that though w/ the brake and trans items.

This car is a daily driver, so I would like to do some moderate upgrades that I'll notice without going FI. So, intake, cat back, and tune for sure, maybe headers, maybe intake manifold.

Beyond that, and budget permitting, I may look to upgrade the suspension and brakes.

I am more interested in making money investments where the performance or handling will improve, and possibly some cosmetic upgrades if they are moderately priced or easy DIY. I'm debating blacking the grill, chrome lip spoiler, and wheels with plastidip.

Cheers,
Chris

That's great Chris. When I started my mods I was totally concentrated on buying nothing but power mods (while staying NA, FI is going on my next car 8+ years from now). I did the LT CAI 1st (love it!), the M370 intake mani 2nd (it's ok I guess, some gains but I think I need a tune before I really dig it), then I went for the LT Headers from FAst Inentions (working on getting installed today actually), and finally I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on an exhaust. However, after I got my wheels upgrade plus threw on some drilled & slotted rotors along with some akebono BBK....I really started to see how rewarding it can be to have aesthetic mods as well as performance. I mean, we all like to drive fast and thats great. But damn it when you get some great looking wheels and start addressing the outside of your ride it can be just as rewarding. Happy modding bro.

I would love to tweak the appearance at some point, budget allowing. Especially suspension and brakes, which should improve handling as well. But that would all come after I get a little more HP from the car. I started looking at Gs after reading about Stillen's SC, but the more I read about FI on this forum, the more afraid I get of blowing up the engine. If this weren't a daily driver, I probably wouldn't be so cautious.
