Need a recommendation

Hello all,

I am currently in the market for a g37 sedan 2010+. My question is, is the sport package really worth the extra money? All i really like in the sport package is the sport front bumper. Currently in the bay area, prices for a 2010-2011 journey is around $22-24k with premium and sometimes technology package. The price for a sport white on black fully loaded is about 27k. Would I be better of just buying a journey for the cheaper price and just doing a sport bumper swap?

The S pkg gives you a lot of features that to price out later would be high dollar. The big Akebono brakes are about $1500, the sport seats w/ more adjustment and thigh bolsters are nice, the limited slip differential, the paddle shifter the bigger 18" wheels w/ far better summer tires, aluminum pedals, sport bumper and the S on the tail all add up to quite a bit. It also has a slightly firmer suspension. It just comes down to haow much value you put on the individual pieces. If my wife didn't find the sport seats uncomfortable I'd be on my second "S" G right now.
BTW, welcome to the site!

thanks for the reply. Those options do sound very appealing and definitely cheaper to get as a whole package. Would you happen to have an estimate on how much a sport conversion would cost around if I had a 2010 journey?

A total sport conversion would be very expensive, the seats & brakes alone would be well over $3k.
If you're talking about just the bumper switch that would be about $300 for the bumper and another couple hundred for paint. If you have to pay shipping that's another couple hundred but if the dealer has one the shipping is often waived or reduced significantly.

It's a little less than that for the seats and brakes, but still not the ideal way to go. I bought my sport seats in like new condition for $1100, new calipers, centric blanks, akebono pads, shorter banjo bolts, and centric hardware for $1300. That puts me at about $2,400, but I still have some stock parts to sell and recoup some of the initial cost. At the end of the process I don't see any issue getting this to be under $2k.

With all that being said, it is a long process that requires patience, skill, and even some luck. The seats are pretty hard to find in really good condition at a reasonable price, but it is possible. The brakes are a dime a dozen though and so is the bumper if that is all you are interested in. I think the sport seats are about $10,000 for a new set from the dealer.

There are 2000x "is it worth it" threads on the Sport package. Google is your friend. Do the 20 minutes of research and decide for yourself. Given the wide variability in prices, you can wait it out and get lucky like I did and find a Sport for less than the price of many Journeys. But since all you want is the bumper, get a Journey. The quicker steering rack has not been mentioned, and everything total in a Sport package would cost nearly $10,000 to add to a Journey.

Meh, I don't see it being anywhere near ten grand. X model sports don't even have a different steering rack. All x models have the same steering components, likely due to the extra components up front that must be worked around. This can be verified through the x turning radius.

I picked up the 2010 sedan. I wanted the S model, but a certain somebody kept telling me it wasn't worth it for the extra $10k.
That was my bad I suppose. But I do plan swapping out the lip to be the S model lip. The good news is also I knocked $15k on the price they tried to sell for haha sometimes I regret not getting the S. But eventually I'm gonna play around wit what I have for a bit.
