New Owner to a 2010 G37XS

Hey all,

Been on the forum for a couple of years but not active till recently.
I just picked up a 2010 MW G37XS Sedan and wow do i love it. I'm coming from an 05 STi and 99 E39. This car is great and very comfy inside.
I will have to take it back though for servicing.

I left the dealership and an hour later the check engine light came on, nothing crazy but i'm sure our cars run in like an ECU safe mode when this happens as other cars do.

Also I have a question, when i'm driving on the highway like 60 MPH and over if i hit any kind of bump the car shakes violently to the point where the passenger seat shakes really bad . Between 70-80 i get a vibration on the steering wheel.
I think i've narrowed it down to the front left, but would it make the whole car shake? I have to hold the wheel with two hands to make sure i keep it in control. I'm hoping its just a wheel balance and alignment issue.

Other than that i love the car, the previous owner painted the roof black, not sure if i'm a fan of it but I'll leave it alone for now.

Mods to buy:

FI CBE
SRI (Takeda, Injen, not sure)
Swift Springs for now
Morimoto or DD D2S bulbs (buying today)
Carsmo *****
19 Inch Wheels (Work, Volk, AME)
Duckbill rear wing (i have the sport wing now)
HID Foglight kit
Cusco Sway bars
Camber kit F/R

I'm sure there's more as there always is.

I'm really happy with my purchase, I was set on a IS350 AWD and my Fiance and mom said look at the G37 I test drove a G37X and loved it and it had to be MW my first white car.

Congrats on your new G, sounds like some solid mods you've got planned.
I'd take it to the dealer for the vibration issues, hopefully it's something minor, the check engine light can be triggered if you haven't fully tightened the gas cap.
At any rate, welcome to the site and hope your troubles are easily fixed and you'll be trouble free soon

Thanks, I took it in today but couldn't get it serviced apparently the car has no wheel weights and tires were never balanced. CEL threw two cat codes, they're going to check it in the morning. If it's not the O2 sensors guess my CBE and test pipes will be ordered ASAP. Oh and the dealer doesn't have the key to my wheel locks so they'll be taking them off and replacing them. Smh..

Congrats on the car. Your wheel shaking problem sounds exactly what I had. Mine started when I had rims replaced. I guess they did not do proper alignment afterwards. It's not expensive at all to get that fixed.

I hope that's all it is. Car is still under warranty for 21k more miles plus dealer warranty so nothing out of pocket. And thank you. I remember test driving the G35 coupe before I bought my STi but I love this sedan...

So took the car in this morning they balanced the wheels and most of the vibration is gone but he said while it's under warranty that if it continues they'll start with 2 new front tires then if anything 4. it still vibrates a little bit so i might just have them give me 4 new tires.

Car still shakes really bad when i hit a bump, it's like i have to really hold the wheel tight or it will go towards the right. Any idea? i'm going to get new tires and alignment on Saturday

Take it to a suspension shop, have them look over your steering rack and steering knuckle. I suspect that if the knuckle was not attached correctly, it could cause a little bit of vibration at higher speeds. Might check your power steering fluid and power steering pump.

I've been taking it to the used car dealerships shop to get fixed, next stop is Infiniti. I've had the car for 4 days and don't want to drive it passed 60MPH cause it shakes when i hit a bump, getting annoyed really fast.

Finally got the car running perfect.

it took:

4 tires
4 rotors and pads
alignment
and new shocks.

So happy the car is running the way it should now to start modding!!!
