New G owner in the NW

Hey everyone. I just picked up a 2008 G37s coupe. Ended up trading my baby, a 2006 Evo 9 for it. So far I'm happy with the trade even though this G has had some problems, comes with buying a modded car I guess. Got it mostly worked out and the car is getting close to exactly where I want it. My Evo was putting down a good solid 300awhp. Haven't got this G dynoed yet but I'm sure it has more.

I'm hoping to learn a lot more about Gs and the VQ, I had a 350z before the Evo but didn't have it for very long so didn't get to learn a lot.

Wow, looks like you're already ahead of most of us here, glad you've worked out the issues and can start enjoying your G. Welcome to the site, and nice Evo BTW.

Thanks for the welcome. I'd have to argue the refinement statement. The Evo was definitely much more refined as a drivers car. The G is definitely more luxurious and has more creature comforts which is what I was looking for when replacing the Evo. Most importantly though, it has cruise control.

The supercharger is nice, but right now the car feels slower than my Evo was. I'm sure its just due to the way the power is delivered though.

I just need to get a good tune for the G, then its is all set for being enjoyable. After that a good set of wheels is next on the list.

Guess my thought is that refinement = luxury. You can certainly relate refinement to the powertrain though. Nevertheless- welcome!!!!

Thanks! Yeah the G is super nice in the luxury area, but kind of a pig when it comes to actually driving it.

Just put on the MXP catback and this thing sounds amazing! Next step is a custom tune to see what exactly the car is putting down and then some new wheels after that. Any suggestions? I've been really lusting after the new Vossen CVTs.

Sam, its a 6MT. I don't know if i could survive without a clutch. Its so much fun to drive. Although, I could make an exception for a GTR which is next on my list.
