Looking to buy a G37. Super noob questions

Hi,

First time posting but i'm looking to buy a G37 coupe. The one I am currently looking at is a 2009 G37x coupe with around 50,000km on it. Now, I like the front bumper on the G37S alot better and a local person on craigslist is selling a 2009 G37s bumper for $500. Would it be possible to fit a G37s front bumper onto the G37x or is the fit completely different?!?!

How reliable is the vehicle as well?? I was looking at the G35 before the G37 and I know it had a major issue with burning oil. Does the G37 have a similar issue?!?! is 50,000km a little too much??

Also, what should I look out for when looking at a preowned g37?!?!

Thanks

Welcome to the site Do you need AWD?, If not I'd just look for an S, especially if you prefer the look, it comes w/ a lot of extras and for an 09 it shouldn't be too much more for an S. As far as reliability, I'm on my second one and they've both been great. Haven't heard much about the oil consumption problem w/ the G37s, but maybe someone else can chime in about that. Good Luck w/ your search.

Thanks for the reply!
Yeah, unfortunately, I live in Canada and we get a lot of snow. Would be wiser to get a AWD but I really don't mind either. I'm eyeing a G37xs but right now, its about $10k out of budget LOL... I almost signed for a 2008 G37s but someone snatched it up hours before I got to the dealership. Haven't found a decent G37s in my area since. Its almost the end of summer so i'm hoping more people trade in/end lease their RWD g37s.

Good luck, lots of members here have RWDs in snow country, just some good snow tires & driving habits. Hope you find what you're looking for.

I agree about the snow tires. I have an s manual and a friend of mine has a 370z. He drives his through snow with just snow tires. He has done it for three years with no complaints.

When the clutch is half way down to all the way down and you rev the motor it makes a rattling sound, almost sounds like a rod knock (but its not)

My car has been in and out of the dealership (been there for the last week and half). We met with the district engineer for Infiniti/Nissan and he said he has never heard this sound before!

Its extremely frustrating i've only owned the car for 2 months and have not even had it in my driveway for more than a month

oh and i keep having trouble with the cruise control, luckily the car is still under warranty :-/

I'm pretty close to closing a deal on a G37s. Question is, if I do get winter tires &rims on it. Would it be possible to downsize the rims to 18 inches? Or will I have to replace the brakes to fit 18 inches / find 19 inch winter rims/tires

You can go down to 18" rims for your winter set, you can find sets of 18" Infiniti sedan wheels off the G37S Sedan that will clear the big brakes.

You just want to be sure that your new tires are within 3% of the 19" tires diameter. Here's some 18" Enkeis that will clear the brakes and are lightweight and look good
