Newb Intro, New Ride
Apparently I've been a member here for a while, found that out while reading through the threads lately as I was approaching my new ride.
I picked up my new 2011 G37XS AT on Saturday. Asgard Grey and fully loaded.
Said goodbye to my 2007 G35 Coupe with the Sport package.
I loved my G35 Coupe, I was incredibly thrilled when I picked it up, and it still gave me a big smile driving it these past 4 years. The only thing I felt slighted on was the interior. Not that it was "bad" by any stretch, but when the G37 was released I felt they had really kicked things up a notch.
Watching the evolution of the 37 over these past 4 years has been fun.
My first impression with my new ride was simply a huge smile. It is an awesome car. I absolutely love the new sport bumper, it's much more aggressive looking than the previous models, and yes, I even love the new wheels.
The new interior is incredible. The tech package has so many cool features, all the voice controls, the GPS, the music box, everything simply floors me.
The back-up camera is really neat too.
And it drives beautifully. I loved the way my 35 drove, but I finally feel as though I'm driving a luxury vehicle that can sit with BMW and not feel like the poor cousin (not that I ever really did with my 35).
Why did I get the X? It's simple, I had to. If you want G37 coupe with Auto and the Sport package, you automatically get the AWD system.
The only way you can get the sport with RWD is to order a MT, and that wasn't a reality with my wife needing to be able to drive the car in a pinch.
I've also come from a manual transmission so it wasn't any kind of sacrifice for me. And the X is pretty damn cool!
4 years ago, on June 9th, the day I picked up my G35 Coupe, I took some pics, so when I picked up the G37 I decided to take pics of it in the exact same spot.
Out with the old (shots circa 2007):
In with the new!:
No mods planned, I'm a simple kind of guy. Going to scotch guard the carpets and that's about it aside from babying it with TLC.
Nothing better than a brand-new car! only 15kms on it at pickup, and that wonderful new car smell (that is toxic apparently, but oh well, everything is toxic these days!).
Thanks for your time and I look forward to spending some time here!

Thanks very much for the welcome!!
CaptainObvious: I love good writing and while I never profess to be great, it's something I always try and pay attention to.
G37SBS: It's a tad darker (in person), but very similar!
And the bubble seat has sort of started, though I'm not too concerned. If it gets really bad I'll speak to my dealership, they are fantastic about fixing such issues.
