Hey all,
I should be taking delivery on my Lakeshore Slate sedan by the end of the week so I guess I should stop lurking. The cars a combination present to myself for turning 40 & finishing my MBA.
I would have preferred the coupe, but my wife objected -- something about having to bring the kids
Anyway, I've been reading through the posts on break-in period... I never really cared before because I leased and never kept the car long enough for break in related problems to be an issue. I'm buying the G, so I'm trying to pay better attention to these things.
Before the breakin ends I've got a 600KM round trip and a 1200 KM round trip. All of it's going to be highway ... so I know that cruise control is bad during the break in, but is there anything else I should watch for / do during these road trips?
Cheers!

one thing that is a deff. is dont keep it in one gear the hole time. i mean switch between 5 and 6 if its a stick or 5 and 4 threw the tip tronics. obv youll have to slow down but you dont want to keep it one gear at the same speed more then about a hour during break in time. congrats on the pick up everyone is very helpful here good luck.
Thanks for the welcome
BigKat > It's a 7 speed auto, so you're suggesting I drop down to 6th for a bit every hour?
Da Mayor > Are you saying break in isn't an issue or are you suggesting any reasonable break in method will work?
I've never done anything special for my past cars, but I've never kept one past 4 years either & this one will be staying for at least 6...
Cheers!

Nothing serious to start with, tinting, swapping out the lights for the colour temp I want & LEDs. I have to drive the car for a while to figure out what, if anything I don't like.
I don't have a spoiler yet, so I'm looking for one. I have to get used to the colour, the deal was my wife got to pick the colour & I'm not sure yet how I'm going to work with lakeshore slate.
I want to get a bit more agressive I just haven't seen the right kit yet.
Performance wise, I think I'm going to wait a bit. Most of the sites I'm looking at don't have G37x sedan specific mods & I'm wary of that. Ultimately I'll probably change the exhuast & intakes, maybe stiffen the car. None of that is likely in the first year.
Cheers!

Oh I like lakeshore slate, it's just I'm finding it a challenging colour to work with. It seems most of the example pics are by far red, white, or black. That's fine, it's one of the reasons I'm happy to have the lakeshore slate - I've not seen another one on the road that colour.
But the downside seems to be figuring out what's going to work & look good on my car based on an example from a red / black / white car. I want to end up looking a bit more agressive than stock - but I don't want to loose the "executive" look of the car either. Maybe I'm walking too thin a line?
Anyway - like I said I'm in no hurry to modify anything. I'm a firm believer in not fixing what isn't broken so there'll have to be something I'm not happy with about the car for me to get very deep into modding it.
Cheers!
