New owner of an AG G37S
New owner of an AG G37S
Hey all - just picked up the car last weekend after thorough inspection and some fun testing of the 335i and S5.
Although the Audi had the best interior, it lacked in road feel the most. On top of that, several S5 owners dropped in for service in the couple of hours I was at the dealership trying to get repairs done for random things. Not into that.
The 335 was definitely fun to drive. The TQ was pretty impressive, but I wasn't impressed with the road grip. The steering feel was great as well, comparable to my S2000, but not quite as good. The interior and exterior ranked a definite 3rd out of the three. I cannot get over this Banglized nightmare. I tried my best, but I couldn't do it. To put the icing on the cake, the sales people and finance people at BMW are rude, obnoxious morons.
I used to own a 3000GT VR-4, so while the 335 handles much better than it, its power for being a 3.0 TT car, was not impressive. The VR-4 was rated at 320HP/300TQ 16 years ago, you'd think BMW could come up with something a little better... I'd even venture to say it was quicker. The VR-4 also tipped the scales at 3800 lbs, which is quite a bit more than the 335i. The MSRP for both cars are quite similar as well.
I chose the G37S because it tied a great exterior together with a great interior. The shifter is as good as my S2000 (which says a lot) and the motor sound is nothing short of salacious. It felt more gripped on the road than the 335 and definitely looks better, IMO. The S5's road manners were pretty tame and it was a little too fluffy in comparison to the G and the 335.
I think its a good balance to have the G37 and an S2000. The S2000 is definitely more raw and 'alive', while the G is relaxed and refined, not to mention a bit quicker.
Looking forward to becoming a more active member of this forum.

congrats on your new 37! i looked at the same 2 other cars when i picked up mine. s5 was just too much of a touring car for me. 335 interior and handling just wasnt what i wanted. as much as i wanted those turbos, i had to look at the big picture.

Thanks for all the welcomes!
Unfortunately, all I have at the moment are crappy Blackberry Bold camera pics. Hoping to take some good ones next week after I put the first coat of wax / klasse on the car next weekend.
I also chose the Infiniti because it reminded me most of the VR-4. Kinda heavy but with some good HP. Japanese reliability as well. I don't care about BMWs (free) or Audi's ($650) maintenance plans. If my car's out of commission, it's never any good.
I will say though, that the automatic multiple mode transmission in the 335 was great. The twitchy unsteadiness however, was not.
