Hi, How are you.
Hi, How are you.
Just wanted to drop the "hi I'm new" line. I just sold my 2006 WRX Stage 2 Impreza for an OB G37S with all the goodies except the rear steer deal and the adapt. headlights. Now the WRX was a very fun car - probably my most fun car to date, but NOT a luxury car. I've alway done the work on my own cars including but not limited to engine builds, tranny builds (just manuals), suspension, exhuast - blah ,blah - you get the point.
Anyway this is my first true what I concider luxury sports car. I don't have any particular allegiance to any car manufacturer, I'll buy any car that I feels fits the bill of my needs or wants. Here's a list of car's I've owned on order of their appearance:
1977 Bonoville
1970's Datsun 510
1978 Camaro
1967 Ford Ranger (this thing was scary)
1995 Nissan Sentra
1997 Ford Mustang GT
2001 Volkwagon GTI
2003 Mecedes C230 Coupe
2004 Mazda RX8
1986 Porsche 911
2006 WRX Impreza
2008 Infiniti G37S
Now I know some - if not most of these cars (and one 460 hp truck) on the list - arn't most people's cup of tea. But what it has allowed me to do is get a pretty varied experience with different kinds of vehicles. I don't intend to modify this car like I've done to almost ever car starting with the 1978 Camaro, but I will drive the crap out of it.
My initial driving observations - that you may or may not agree with - is the car handles pretty well concidering the weight, and it has decent power concidering the weight. It's not a "sports car" in any real way, but a good GT. Most posts go to this point. My only real gripe is that it tends to be a little floaty in mid to long corners where the road isn't glass smooth. But I can forgive this since driveng at 8/10's to 10/10's on the road rarely presents itself. And all the other electronic goodies for the price is really nice.
BTW, I bought the car used with 1,800 miles on it for $36,600 - I'm not sure how well I bargined. I think I got a fair price but I would be interested to hear if I got raped or not
.
I will post my pictures after I polish the car.
So far from what I've read this seems to be a nice forum. It's a small forum concidering I came from the NASIOC (subaru) forum, but still, a good forum.
Hope to learn a bunch.
Greg

thanks for the warm welcome.
Yeah, its a strange list - it's a list that will teach you work on your own cars, esp. the earlier stuff and the Porsche!
So far I've been quite impressed with the G in its build quality. I've never had a car that felt sooooo solid and quite. Except when I open her up!

Yo Greg,
Welcome - we dissect the G pretty well on this site so hope you'll find it useful! How was that 86' 911? I hear that generation held its own and was fun to drive. I see some for sale still and even old as they are they're still pretty sexy!
