Not all the Morton's branches pony up anymore: Both the downtown restaurant and the new Bethesda location charge for the sandwiches ($8 for four and $3 for four, respectively), and the Fairfax Square Morton's in Tysons Corner doesn't even make them. But even at a dollar or so apiece, these treats are pretty impressive, especially when you consider that what the menu calls "Morton's 'slightly smaller' steaks" cost $34 to $39.

The Bethesda Morton's has what it calls the $3 menu, a half-dozen lounge offerings that include, in addition to the steak sandwiches, three silver dollar cheeseburgers with garnish that may not be as large as Harry's, but they aren't Little Tavern miniatures, either (and there are three, after all). Large chilled shrimp are $2 apiece (a trifle rubbery, but still pretty good) and oysters $1 apiece.
