Your Neighborhood...

Alright since we've been talking about theft and stuff like that....lets talk about how your neighborhood has changed. Where do you live? What kinds of people are in your neighborhood? Has it gotten better or worst? Share.

My neighborhood used to be predominantly white in population. But its changed over the years... I've lived there since I was about 6 years old so I've seen people come and go. What I've noticed about the ethnicity of the population is:

a lot of the caucasians have moved out and been replaced by blacks, hispanics, and asians. But in recent years it seems the hispanics have been replaced by more blacks and asians. But just because it was predominately white community didn't mean we didnt' get our cars jacked once in a while... because it actually did happen more frequently back then. Why? One reason is probably because theives come from other neighborhoods...see a quiet neighborhood... and start the jacking. Now the jacking of things have declined a lot...maybe because of more police presences?

Once in a while you'll see a bunch of cars along the main road that runs through the neighborhood all get hit in one night. And then it'd be quiet for a while. I haven't seen any cars sitting on bricks, jacks, crates.. but then again there isn't an overwhelming amount of aftermarket rims flooding the place. Moreso they're stealing stuff like audio equip, loose change, etc...

BUT..there has been an increase in vandalism.. I parked my ex's car on the main road and the tires got slashed... someone kicked the side mirror...and left a huge gash through the side of the car. But then again...it was a POS that didn't run... cause it kept overheating. But still...I've been seeing cars get tires slashed around the neighborhood for those who park on the main street. Why the increase in hate? Maybe the increase in HATERS? probably.

I'm in Pimmit Hills (Northern Falls Church, about 1 house from Mclean). Haven't been there long, but in the past year I have seen quite a few houses get torn down and replaced by ones 4-8 times their size (of course they have like no yard left). Alot of people are doing that before they sale, and the land is worth quite a bit by itself. The older (circa 1950, 1200sqft) homes are going for $400k+, the new (2,500sqft+) homes are going for closer to $1,000k (i.e. a million) +/- .

Those types of numbers keeps the riffraff down.

Just moved recently.

The new neighborhood has like 100 corvettes and pickup trucks on it...so they all give me a weird look in my imported evil car. Well, at least nobody there wants my car <knock on wood>

I have lived in my area for more than 20 years and it is quiet but new home came and more traffic.

My previous neighborhood was the Hood .What happens in the hood stays in the hood .Bmore.
