Poll 2005 Acura TSX buy or not?

hey guys, my parents are trying to get another car to replace their aging Mazda Millienia. We went to the Acura dealer today and found a used TSX that they like.

used 2005 TSX 5AT - certified preowned, with extra 7 year/100k miles powertrain warranty
MSRP: 27,190
Invoice: 24,784
mileage: ~8,704 miles
color: silver
condition is pretty much brand new, very clean and paint is excellent
options: none - as you know Acura all comes fully loaded with everything, the only possible option you can pick is the navigation, which my parents dosnt want (i tried hard to convince them to get it with nav but they wouldnt listen)
first they offered 24k
we offered 22k
after talking to the manager
they went down to 23.3k
we made our final offer at 22.5k
they rejected our offer and we left.
but hinted that they might accept 23k flat.

we are deciding whether to get it, offer 23k to them tomorrow.what do you guys think? would you recomment buying that car? what price should we offer?

Solid car, should be a great car for daily use by parents. I dunno about the exact price but something around that price sounds fair. Maybe shop around to other Acura dealers for other Certified Used TSXs that are available to compare with that one.

Btw, that's 8k miles on a car that should easily do 150k without major issues. as long as it wasn't in an accident or something (why exactly is someone trading in a year-old TSX w/ 8k miles?) it sounds like a nice buy.

my real question is like, do you guys think they can go even lower... because ... some people tell me they are usually willing to go down 1-2k from asking price for used cars. where is devon when i need him?

yes, usually dealer retail is a couple grand markup. can't you punch the car into Edmunds and have it tell you Used Car prices like dealer retail and private party, etc?

If no one can give a suggestion to get them to budge. I think taking it for $23k is worth it. Of course lower is always better...

Ahhhhh sorry bro.......was at the track yesterday. Yes they can go lower, but will they is the problem. ew questions I have for you.
1. Are you trading in the Millienia?
2. Did you already tell them that you are or not?
3. If a trade is involved, did they already appraise the car?
4. This one is touchy and if you don't want to answer I understand completely, How's credit?

Depending on answers above........tell them that you already have finacing availble to you through your bank, if they can match what your bank is offering you will use them. Using their banks gives them money throgh the bank. If you use your bank, they lose out.

That would be a very good deal- you are getting a trade in value of the car in "excellent" shape (what the dealer bought it for). If they gave the person who traded it in just a "good" value for the car they could go as low as $21.9k. Doubt they would go for that- and $22.5k may be a loss as well.

1. Are you trading in the Millienia?
havnt decided yet, if the value they give is not high enough ill just try post it on the washington post and try to sell it.

2. Did you already tell them that you are or not?
thanks to you mentioning about it in happy hour a couple of times about tradeins i havnt mentioned a single word about trading in. we figure we want to get the car deal done first, then mention trading in,

3. If a trade is involved, did they already appraise the car?
nope, havnt yet

4. This one is touchy and if you don't want to answer I understand completely, How's credit?
credit is extremely good, not a issue at all

i think my parents wants to pay cash. they are still debating the pros and cons of paying it all at once vs financing
