Got a quote from Passport Infiniti in Alexandria for $330. But I was thinking I will just get an oil change and the air cabin filter replaced. Is there anything else you all think I should include? I looked at the list of items done for the 15k and most of it is inspecting and topping off fluids. It doesnt justify $330.

Anyone know how much it will cost for parts and service for the air cabin filter?

 

Passport did my incabin airfilter (part and labor) for $90 at 15k. I'm going to do it myself from now on.

 

Changing the in-cabin air filter takes all of 15 minutes to do and you can get the filter from Autozone (A purolater one) for around $15 or so. So basically getting the 15K service done at IOC would be $15(Free oil change and you can do the in-cabin yourself)

 

IMHO everything is DIY not unless it is under warranty or it is beyond your capabilities and/or tools. Most services, mant., and fixes can be done yourself. Check out an online vendor (sponsor) for the price on the cabin filter. I'm sure you can replace it yourself If you don't have one, I recommend getting the factory service manual. I say this, but I don't have one yet. I will get one as soon as I need to do something. I've had them for all of my cars and it's worth the money.

 

Personally, I dont see what 330 actually gets you. Its not worth it and your right most of it is inspecting and no actual changing of equipment, so I would not get it. I would only change the air filter and probably get some new tires depending on how you drive and then an alignment.

 

All routine services IMHO are ways for the dealer to make money. Since when does an oil change, in cabin filter replacement, topping off of fluids, checking brakes cost $330?? $hit, bring me your G's I'll do all that for $50 flat....within 5 years, i should have enough to open my own stealership..hehe

 

don't do it man........ go get and oil change..... go to autozone........ and voila.....$50 out the door....

jim, in cabin filter is SIMPLE. open your glove box (lower box). Remove the 4 screws (phillips head) including the 2 screws holding the metal lock bracket. Glove box should drop down, look for the big white box up at the back up top. I think you simply unclip this white box, replace filter and bam, close box, replace glove box w/ 4 screws!!!

 

The 15K also includes wheel balancing, brake inspection and cable adjustment, and adjusting belts, plus inspecting all suspension and steering systems, and pretty much inspecting everything else, plus adding BG MOA and 44K, checking timing and idle speed.
If you want the full service done, my normal price is $290. I can get it down to about $245 for you. That is if you want the full service done.

Guys, remember, I can do all of the services that Infiniti dealers can do (except warranty work) for A LOT cheaper than they will. And your business will be going to a fellow NGC member.

I guess that's a shop and I fully support other members on the forum. Yet, IMHO these are all very simple DIY items, except for the balancing tires. However, you usually get lifetime balancing when you mount the tires. I imagine that the book time on something like that is an hour. If you were to do it yourself (minus the balancing), you're looking at 30min tops. If you have the time, I encourage you guys to learn these things. It will save you time & money in the long run. IME dealers and shops never check everything that's listed. They check the bigger dollar items. When I was selling my car I had to take it to people for them to check it out and they didn't do anything.
