As stated before, prison is meant for rehabilitation. Tookie was indeed rehabilitated and therefore SHOULD have been pardoned. How many other murderers do you know wrote children's books or made such a difference in street crime (gang related). He pulled a complete 180. It surprising he wasn't paroled long ago for all that he did. Well maybe that would be too much, paroling a known murderer. Life in prison wouldn't be too bad though. I honestly believe he could have made more of a difference had he been able to stay alive longer. Tonight at 12:01a.m., the world will lose 2 people, a murderer and a man who brought great change to the U.S. (R.I.P. Tookie)

There will be others to spread his message. He will not be missed, at least not by me. This bastard brutally slaughtered 4 innocent people who did not resist him or were no threat to him whatsoever. He robbed them and then murdered them because he didn't want to leave behind any witnesses that could ID him. He got a total of $200 in the comission of both robberies/murders. $200 dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!! All because he needed money to buy more pcp. This POS is getting exactly what he deserves. Bye bye Tookie!

Never admitted to the murders. Never apologized.

What is you proof that he made any change at all? What is your evidence?

Father Gregory Boyle(founder of Homeboy Industries in East LA) was recently interviewed and stated that he saw no evidence that Dookie's books had any impact at all on gangs and new gang membership.

The number of gang members in California and across the nation is at an all time high.

What young person do you know that listens to anyone, particularly a old felon?

Balance that with killing four people.

If you cannot see that logic in the above.....

At least those against the death penalty are consistent and have some logical and moral ground to stand on.

But this notion that Dookie's so called "rehabilitation" negates his actions against those four people, is absolute nonsense.

-His words and actions of late I would place as evidence of rehabilitation. His active protests against the crimes that gangs commit.

-His affect only needs to spread to a few. Lets say for example that on average a gang member will kill 1 person in their life. If his new message could have stopped even one person from joining a gang, we'd have one less innocent person murdered.

No I don't think through this logic if he stopped 4 or even 50 people from becoming gang members it would erase his past actions. Thats something that he and the victims families have to live with; but it would have made a positive difference in the lives of would be gang members and their potential victims.

Rehabilitation must include accepting responsibility for past actions and atonement and contrition for having commited those acts. Dookie denied it to the end.

So as the governor said, there is no rehabilitation.

Well even if I did accept this, we still have a problem here. That is one of you speaking out of your rear end.

In particular....please show me proof of this!

I quoted a high profile anti gang crusader who actually seeks to rehabilitated ex gang members(and has tens of sucesses). Your proof that Dookie kept some one from joining a gang is ......oh wait, you don't have any.
