Nightclub suggestions

I have a female friend coming into town and she wants to go out dancing and party. Can I hear your suggestions on some DC hot spots? I've been out of the dancing scene for some time now

of course the prominent night club is Love off NY ave, formerly known as dream. itsprobably the biggest in the tri state area. thursday is kids night, friday is hiphop night, sat is international night. if youre not from this area u gotta goto Love at least once, theres always stars, singers, football players, basketball players there. I met Lebrone, Tmac, Lavar, amongs others there.

then theres H2O on the water front. which isnt as good as Love, but is one of the more popular spots. And club AIR, club FUR, club Elements. these are all 2nd tier clubs.

then there are lounges with dance floors like Sesto, and Ozios near George town, that are really really nice. those are smaller and cozier and generally really nice inside.

I personally suggest Love or Ozios because they have the nicest cleanest facilities. Love for the big and fun factor, Ozio if u wanna dance a lot and chill and be able to talk etc.

good luck.

its different from the way the facility is set up, its still really really nice inside, just a change of style. its still banging, lof of girls, good music, expensive *** drinks, etc etc same sh*t different day.
if you goto their website, which u should find easily with google, they have free passes that u can print that let u in for free before 11. of course u really need to be there like 10:30 cause theres always a long *** line.

Its kinda ghetto but maybe you'd like Home. A good freind of mine is a promotor there. Can you get you on the VIP list if you just give me a little heads up. She always likes to tell me when its Maxim night - I think last week was but couldnt make it.

Is VIP around anymore? I liked the vibe there better than Dream. Home is classic - I remember going there when it was still the Vault in high school - back when I was still going to 5th column... ha. Not into the scene anymore. Air is fun when the weather is nice cuz you don't get all smoky, but that isn't an option this weekend.

has anyone tried out that place called K street? I think it's somewhere around 14th or 15th NW. There's always a huuuuuuuuge waiting line outside, reminscent of the NY scene. Could be worth checking out if you want something a little less intimidating.

there's also MMCCXXIII (1223) around 18th and M st. It's not too bad, although the top floor gets super eurotrashy. Dragonfly a few doors down is a nice bar, although it always makes me think of Clockwork Orange with the service guys running around in white jumpsuits.

If you want a bit classier, go across the street to 18th Street Lounge. It might be a little hard to find because it's an unmarked door, but there's a bright neon mattress sign right in front of it. I believe two doors down is Five, if you want something more along the lines of electronic/house.

I like 1223 and 18th street lounge. 1223 is more the 'Euro' crowd to me though if you know what I mean. Five is fun and after some places close, we seem to end up there because its open.

As for that place K Street - I have heard about it but DC is pretty trendy like that. Its a new place so people just go to check it out just to say they've gone. I remember when Fur and IBar opened it was the same sorta thing - long lines, etc. etc. Now there's not a problem gettin in.

clubs are kinda overrated anyways...this coming from someone who spent about four or five years of his life constantly in them. i think they're a good time if you've got a large group of people going, because then you're going to go for the friends as your focus, not really the surrounding environment.

this rule is particularly true for megaclubs like love. you can feel really lost in those places, so it makes it exponentially more enjoyable if you go with a crew!

actually, i just remembered a club that'd prolly be worth checking out: Avenue on New York Ave. Great place, kind of like Love or whatever Dream is called nowadays, but more intimate.
