NGC Opinion: Maintenance Nissan vs. Infiniti
I use full synth and NEVER go much more than 4k between changes. most of the time its right around 4k (+/- 100).. And yes, it is a VERY important task. If I were using conventional oil, I would def. change it around 2500 too.
I just had my 30k service done not too long ago at passport and my advisor said all I really needed was an oil change and a coolant flush and they did a brembo check or sum BS which cost around 100 and my stupid *** let them do it. There's alot of unecessary things that aren't needed for the 30k maintanence
30k includes oil change, air filter, cabin filter, trans drain and refill, coolant flush and tire rotation, and wiper insert replacement. and while you don't have to get it done at the dealer you must be able to prove that the recommended service was done or you WARRANTY IS VOID

they will do just a coolant flush but that will not be enough to qualify as a 30k and they said they would do it forlike $120 and that is a true flush not just a drain and refill and includes a chemichal that cleans any corrosion and lubricates the coolnig system

According to the manual at 30K or 24 months Premium Maintenance is,
• Replace oil and filter
• Lube locks/hinges
• Replace climate-controlled seat filter
• Replace differential oil,
• Replace air filter
• Replace engine coolant/flush system
• Replace engine drive belts
• Replace microfilter,
• Replace manual transmission oil,
• Replace radiator cap
• Replace wiper blades
And inspection of; Lights, Axle & Suspension, Brake Line & Cables, Brake Calipers, pads and rotors, Cruise control vacuum hoses, Drive shaft boots, exhaust system, Front suspension ball joints, fuel lines/connections, fuel tank vapor vent systems hoses, headlights/adjust if necessary, steering gear and linkage and finally steering linkage ball joints.
Some of this stuff seems pretty basic and yet some seem very necessary. I guess I should just bite the bullet and pay the 500$ @ the Nissan dealership.

1. Oil Filter - no more than $5
2. Mobil 1 - 5W-30 Synthetic - $30 for 6 quarts (only use 5)
3. 15-30 minutes of your time - $(depends on you)
4. Recycling/wasted oil - $5 at your local gas station
Total - $40 - and thats using Mobil 1 oil....and when you do it yourself you know its done right!
Thats just the oil change I have broken down for you....you can always get parts cheaper than the dealer, labor is where the dealer makes its money...

I always buy the 5 qt container of Mobil 1 - 5W-30 Synthetic from Walmart. Its $20 and is perfect for putting the old oil back in. For recylcing, I keep the containers in my garage until I have a bunch of them, then take them down to a recycling place. Ive also dropped them off at Pepboys before free of charge.
The oil filter is about right, Purolater 1 filter from autozone for around $4.50.
as far as the Maint warranty thing, Ive heard the same thing. You dont need to, just something to scare you. After paying all that money for 15k service and feeling ripped off, I doubt Ill get the 30k service done, tho on the rate Im going, that wont be until 1 1/2 years from now, so I may change my tune.
oh, and for people that do their own oil changes check out the fumoto drain valve. Makes things alot easier:
