Strange problem
Strange problem
Something strange is going on with my car. Today as I am driving down the road no bumps or anything my dash lights, radio and AC cut off. But my headlights, turn signals, windows, etc work. Car looses no power. Then a mile down the road I pull into my driveway everything cuts back on.
Only mods I have done recently is have a car alarm place put an alarm on my car about a month ago. Then 2 weeks ago had a crank pulley put on. But have had zero problems. Checked the belts on the crank pulley.
What should I look at as a possible problem? Or who should I take the car to? The car alarm place, dealer or speed shop that put my pulley on?
Anyone hear of anything like this happening?
Thx for any input.

I dont think the pulley could have caused any electrical problems. It maybe your alarm. Or just something is malfunctioning. I'd take it back to the alarm place first and then if they insist that there isn't anything wrong take it to the dealer and see whats the deal.
Sounds like a loose wire to me. I'd double check any splices that were done. If any thing looks remotely loose, re-do it. Some times it takes a while for them to wiggle their way aloose; so just because it's been ok for a while doesn't mean that a previous action wasn't the root cause.
Hmm will pop it off when I get home today. Car worked fine driving it 6 miles to my car pool spot. Last night pressed on all the fuses and checked the alarm wiring.
Keep checking the pop charger and the AC hoses to make sure it does not rub a hole on the hose like people have said.
Will have to locate the AC power lines under the hood. Since I am not 100% sure where the compressor is located. Not too hard to find will just follow the AC hoses.
