HID Bulbs
HID Bulbs
I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I've been deciding between the PIAA vs Phillips. The PIAA's are about 385$, and the Phillips run about 280'ish? Are the PIAA's really worth paying more for?
And one more question, when I was reading the forums, people were talking about removing their front bumper to install the bulbs... Is this true? Is the install a hard process? I rather do it the "DIY" way instead of taking it to a shop and stuff. Plzzz help

No having to remove the bumper. Just take the tire off. pop off 6 fasteners and 2 screws on the fender liner. Pull it forward and you have a perfect view of your low beam, fog/hi-beam and clearance strip bulbs.
Be sure NOT to touch ANY part of the glass on the bulbs when replacing.
I was pretty hesitant doing mine myself as well. But after seeing how Devon did one I was able to do it pretty easily (except dropping the car 2 inches on to the jackstand and scaring everyone.. including myself, lol)
haha, the DIY sounds alright now. BTW, do you know a site where I can get the Phillips HID's from? I had it on my favorites, but I can't find it... I don't really feel like dropping 400$ on a PIAA.. :P Thanks!
I just bought a set of them 6000K McCulloch from eBay for $100 shipped. Not a huge different but enough color out of them over stock. I didn't want to compromise my light output for color but wanted a little more color. Even though they're not as blue as 8000K, side by side, they make the OEM HID look like halogen. Not sure how durable these are compares to Phillips or PIAA, but I think a lot of people are happy with McCulloch. Think of it this way, you can buy 2-3 sets of these for the price of one set of PIAA or Phillips. Installation is easy with a jack and a stand. it's a 30 minute install. Not sure I can rationalize paying $100+ more for Phillips and $200+ for PIAA.
