How fast do you drive?

I picked up my car from Passport Infiniti yesterday (Thanks Jeff for taking care of my AC problem!). I'm just curious how fast do you guys drive on the 495, 295, 895, 695, 395, and 95 beltways? I only ask b/c I drove home yesterday via 395N, 295S/295N, 495N, and then 95N. The whole time I am just blowing past people. I routinely drive between 80-85MPH regardless of the limit (whether it's 55 or 65). I'm curious if I have a lead foot problem or does everybody drive like this? It can't be EVERYBODY b/c I keep passing people on the highway...

Now that I have 15 pts in less than 2 years.... I drive at speed limit. Maximum of 5mph over.

Well.. Good to know.. I'll be up in Richmond in a few weeks for work. Guess I need to slow down. But I'll be in a crappy rental so that shouldn't be a problem.

in all truth, i try to stay about 10 mph over when i'm on the highway...495 doesn't count because people go about 75 mph on that road. 80-85 and you're asking to be pulled over, but you've got better odds at getting away with it if you know where all the traps are at.

The owner's manual says don't go over 80mph the first 1,200 miles

I always do around 80-85 on Highways... EXCEPT 267 (Dulles Toll Road). That road is swarming with cops. Ive been pulled over on that road twice in the past year. Once in my Jeep and once in my G.

But heres the kicker. The 1st time I got pulled over was in the Jeep, I went to court and had to deal with the cop there. Then, I get pulled over again 6 mos later in the G. The cop comes up and says "Dont you drive a Jeep?". I was like Oh crap, he's really gonna get me now. Anyway, I was honest with the guy and just kinda talked to him for awhile. At the end he just gave me a warning and right as he was about to leave he said "Nice Car" and walked back to his cruiser.

Both times I got clocked doing 74 in 55. 1 Mile under VA Wreckless!

Needless to say, thats one road I dont speed on. But all other roads are open game.

Hey Pathis I think we should all be W-reckless drivers...I'd hate to wreck my car...just kidding!

I think I have a problem b/c it doesn't matter what kind of car I'm in I'm always driving fast. Whether it was my old Saturn or a moving truck. I had to help my brother move from Fairfax back to Baltimore one time and I was doing 80-85 mph in a 10' U-Haul.

Then in July when I moved from Towson to Abingdon I was driving up 95N going about 80-85. I was riding up on people in the left lane b/c they were moving too slow...and this time I was in a 14' U-Haul. Are there places for people like me...other than jail, the hospital, or a casket?

I'm always going 80+ but I only do that stuff on familiar roads where I know all of the speed traps....if it's night or a road I'm not familiar with dont do more than 5 to 10 over....

Lol, me too!

Hey, howd you like driving thru 295 in DC on your way? I avoid that road like the plague with my G. Way too many potholes and too bumpy for me. I work in VA so instead of using 295/395 I just go around the beltway. If theres no backups 495 seems faster. Even tho the mileage is actually more I can keep a higher speed so it works out about the same.

Also, when you take 395 towards MD, you get off on 295S and then 295N? I usually always just jump on on PA Ave and make the left on to 295N. but then you got those damn people that like to try and wash your windows. Hate that $hit!

People are driving slower because the po's are dishing out more tickets.
