Raced 911 Carrera on Westfields Blvd
So on my way back to work from lunch today a guy in a silver 911 carrera probably an 02-03 was on my a$$ as I was coming down Walney Road. At the Willard/Westfields light I gunned it and he was still on my a$$ and we had to slow for traffic in front. From about a 25mph roll we both took off in the same lane (i was in front) and he was on me the whole time (i feel if we had been side by side he wouldve probably had a car length to 2 full car lengths lead on me after 50-60mph). Not too shabby IMO since it is a Porsche after all and probably alot lighter than our G. Not really much to compare to as we werent running side by side but based on his distance (or lack thereof) to me I am pretty confident by stating he wouldve had 1 a car length to maaaybe 2 full lengths.
I also raced my coworkers brothers 02 M5 and we were side by side the entire time up to around 60mph...this was on my stock 18s before I had any mods too. However he is a complete amateur when it comes to a stick shift which explains how a V6 280HP car kept even w/ a V8 400HP car!! But I could tell by the jerking of his car that he couldnt handle the power and wasnt shifting at the right time. I know for a fact if even a half way decent stick driver was behind that M5 it wouldve been a whole different story!! But i still rub it in his face!!
Let me reiterate b4 I get the post 'a 911 and an M5 will smoke our cars any day of the week' because i know they will. however I have learned that it really DOES matter who is behind the wheel when that OTHER car is a manual. I always see people posting about the importance of the driver but never really thought (driver skill) would be significant when there was so much difference in power/weight (ex. M5 vs G35)

hahahaha, ya these are DEF not kills...but they are just me trying to have fun. I gave him respect though with a thumbs up because most guys around 40-45 who drive nice cars wont even wont give our cars the time of day let alone give us a go. But he was smiling and end of the day its all in good fun!!
arjun, more like 'good attempt'. i guess the purpose of this post is purposeless as there wasnt a side by side comparison but my point is that our G CAN do pretty decent against a 911, as long as the 911 is NOT an automatic and/or 911 turbo!

True .. the 911 Carrera is 330 Hp i believe ... and it is way lighter than the G .. i guess he wasn't pushing his car to the limit because he didn't want to run into you as he was right behind you ... i guess he would have have you by a car or two if u were side by side ... but newayz "GOOD ATTEMPT"

Here's a Turbo that checked out my car after we went for a little run... sorry for the crappy pic - grabbed my phone and shot it from behind a window. By the time I got outside, he'd driven off as he was too cool to associate w/ a G and wouldnt look at me when we were on the road. That said, he coudln't resist the temptation to scope out my place and wait for me to go in before coming for a closer look.

Good work!! Those P-cars are something, even automatic. They can shift within 0.2 seconds to the right gear without hunting. I looked at a 40th anniversary over the weekend, but the dealer was asking full price for a '04. Guess I will have to settle for the Cayman S when it hits the U.S. shores in '06.
