it finally happened... a little bit of Profiling

Well, I figured picking on Puria would come back to haunt me. Going to work this morning I was pulled over for illegal tint, no front plate, & a PA drivers license. No warnings, all fines.

It happened like this... For those of you that know the area, I was on FFX parkway turning right onto fairlakes parkway (towards best buy). The cop was in the left turn lane on fairlakes parkway getting ready to turn left onto Fairfax county parkway. He sees me turn right, busts a U-Turn in the middle of on coming traffic, and proceeds to dodge about 10 cars to catch up to me. He asks me if I know what I was being stopped for, which I figured no front plate, but my tint it not dark at all.

So after he hands out all the fines, I asked him why the car ahead of me didn't get pulled over (it was a mid 90's civic with dark *** bubbly tint). He simply responded by "I didn't see it."

Now can I fight these at all? I mean I obviously was at fault with those things, but is there anyway I can get out of some of those fines? Anyone know how much this is going to cost to pay? And do I have to take off my old tint and take it down to the cop station or just pay the fine and be done? I was nice as **** too, until he started handing me out all those fines. Each one I just took and threw on the pass. side floorboard, and told him I'd see him in court. If anyone knows anything, let me know.

Damn man sorry to hear. So I take it these aren't fix-it tickets but instead just fines along with fixing it?

Doesnt it suck how out of the blue the cop decides he wants to F with someone and finally nails you.

well for the tine, you just need to pay...dont need to take it off.
even if you fight, its not worth any. i think they are minor ones IMO.
just pay fines then you are all set!
how much are they overall?
i heard the tint fine is about 85bucks?

Greg, sorry to hear that man....

hmm...if i had to choose btw my Reckless and ur fines...Id take yours 3x back to back, one day after another!! i dunno how you can avoid the tint fine...front plate you can BS say you snapped it on your way to work in the AM. As for your PA license, you can always say you just visiting but that may require some sort of proof of your address in PA, time to find a relative/friend whose address you can use. You can also mention that your cell phone is a PA number, all in all i wouldnt worry, you'll prob. get them all thrown out.

But guys/gals be careful, Greg is right as far as the profiling. When a police officer see's a young guy/gal driving a nice car or really anyone for that matter....especially a modded 35-40k car...most people in our area are 'haters' including cops. Why should you have such a nice car w/ wheels etc etc and live the life when his job is prob. 3x more dangerous/stressful and he prob. makes alot less than your average G driver?? Although Im NOT trying to justify why they 'profile', just know that it can probably be what motivates/drives them to pull us over and fine us without giving us the benefit of the doubt. I bet 200-1 that if Greg's car was a 94 civic w/ the same tint/no tags and PA license, he probably wouldve let him go (same goes for me and my reckless). But they assume a you got a nice car and therefore have alot of $$ and figure you can afford a ticket it so they will just 'look' for ANYTHING to pass a ticket on you to make you pay for having that car and your mods (as if property tax and gas werent enough )

you're lucky the cop didn't make you peel your tint on the spot! I have heard stories about cops making you peel it.

sorry to hear about your situation.

yeah he didn't say anything about fixing it. So I'm guessing these are just fines. I have a PA address, a PA phone #, and the license plate bracket in my trunk that broke Sunday I mean if I can just pay these fines and be done, I should probably do that and be done with the situation. I don't know how much the fines are, I think I have to wait and call the # on the tickets...

front plate one is like 30 bucks I think, tint I dont know, and license I dont know but I hate that initial court fee you have to pay in addition to the tickets. you are looking at no more than 250 in fines all together but you can likely get that reduced quite a bit.

Greg sorry to hear that. Sucks how cops pull you over for nothing. See I understand if they pulled you over for speeding but thats not the case here. Bastards. They need to use our tax money better than this.

fines

In maryland for the tint they usually give out an inspection formThat your insurance company sees.I think its and fr -19.You must remove the tint and have it inspected at a police barrack. You can't just pay the fine.Thats why i try to stay close to legal.I have 32 %.Sorry to hear about that.

Sorry to hear about that Greg sounds like you were really just being picked on. I thought those were secondary fines too? Guess not...

Greg ... Sorry to hear about your ticket ... when he gave you a ticket for your tint ... did he use an instrument to measure how much tint there was? ... for the front license plate? .. you could just say that ... it the screws loosened earlier in the day .. and you were going to put it back on as soon as you went home ... and about the PA drivers license ..... why dont you just get a VA license? ... i mean all you have to do is trade your PA license for your VA license ... they charge you but not much .. correct me if i'm mistaken .. and if you still wanna keep your PA license .. you can call the DMV in PA and just tel lthem that you lost your Drivers License .. so they'll mail you another one at your PA residence ... Good Luck anyways ...

Yup, especially crossing the border from Canada into NY. I have witnessed some border patrol decide to look for drugs --- they stripp your car on the spot. So don't drive a nice car across the border, it's just asking for trouble from some red-neck jealous border potrolman.

yeah he used the instrument and it showed 28%. I didn't know VA legal limit was 50%, which is basically nothing. My PA drivers license has my PA address on it, so I can probably get away with that one, I also told him that same **** for the bracket. He just wanted to be a *****. Its all good, I won't let the man drag me down! See you guys this weekend if you are rolling up to md.
