hey I was at this Hurley's audio store the other day off of route 7 in tysons. My bro got his subs done there and I was looking at some new speakers and an amp to power then of course. Anyway the guy who worked there recommended Focal speakers they're expensive so I don't know if I'm going to get them but I was wondering if anyone has heard of this brand because I know I sure haven't. I was leaning toward some polk momos and an amp to power them, anyway if you would tell me what you think and if you have changed your stock stereo what you put in, thanks (this applies to anyone not just NationalGClub members
). I'm really just looking for some advice on what to get and/or what other people have done.

Focal's are very nice - I think Mark might have them, so check his ride out next time. I didn't get them because they're a little power hungry. I went for Boston's because they aren't nearly as hungry and also have a natural sound IMO.
Focal's are VERY nice. I'd ask Tom that came on the drive with us (Guy with Caribbean Blue) - he seemed to be very knowledgable about speakers and had upgraded all of them in his car.
i had focal seperates in all four doors of my audi, along with an image dynamics 12" sub. the whole system was powered by a 6-channel zapco amp. the focals are extremely nice speaker. very clear and not harsh. also, if you are going to spend the money, do the whole system right. i would highly recommend the zapco amps as well. zero distortion no matter how high you crank it!

Brian, I think it hits pretty hard but I'm not a true audiophile. A more popular combo would be the 10w6 then if you want big booming bass - and that wasn't what I was going for. Just some good hard tight bass that can be loud if it wants to be. The 10w6 would be plenty good for you if you wanna be heard down the street. The stealthbox was for $300 - kinda pricey I know but well worth my trunk space. The installer that did it said it was one of the highest quality stealthboxes he had ever seen. Personally I think its a great product. And yeah, I'd probably Dynamat the car or at least hte trunk to get the full effect of it. I haven't gotten around to doing that (out of pure laziness) but I bet it would make a big difference and avoid a lot of the in-cabin rattles.
hey pratik did you disconnect you 2 middle speakers (the 3x5's or w/e that are in the backseat doors)? How are you liking your kappas and what did you do for the 6x9 in the back?
No, I didnt disconnect my middle speakers. Actually heard it helps to fill in the sound by the installer. Then again most on the boards unhook them. You may as well leave them in and if you dont like them, just unhook them. Choice is yours.
Pratik,
I just thought there would be a better separation of sound without them considering how close together the back 2 sets of speakers are, guess I'll just have to try both and see which I like best. how do you like your kappas so far? I was looking at those too because I remember how crisp the highs are in my friends car.
