For the AT Drivers

How do you drive your AT? Do you drive it in AT mode or MM mode? Plus when I get my car serviced at the dealer and get a loaner car. They are always AT. I find that on MM mode the gears catch funny. Kinda lagging?

My 2004 AT was slow to shift in MM mode when I bought it. I reset the ECU and now the shifts are as quick as one would expect. I have also seen posted great results in faster shifts after installing a grounding wire kit with the AT ground wire.

I drive my car in auto 80% of the time. I use MM when I'm in the mood. I think the transmission on the G is great and I am happy with the ability to use both modes.

Before purchasing the G, I test drove Audis, Mercedes, BMW SMG and nothing compared to the G's MM. The shifting was a lot smoother on it than the others. When I got into the G the shifts seem completely normal - perhaps its the big engine thats in the car which doesn't have any jerk between shifts.

Greg, when you deal with an hour - hour 15 to travel 20 miles like I do then even usign the car in MM gets to be boring.

I actually chirped from 2nd to 3rd in MM on a loaner. Sometimes I just get frustrated and go back to auto when driving the loaner. Maybe I'm just not used to it. Sometimes I'd like to have an automatic car for the commute but then again driving auto all my life was boring and I would tend to fall asleep behind the wheel. LOL

I drive MM most of the time as well, its not very bad. Yes there is a little bit of lag, at lower rps noticabely, Higher Rpms there is little lag, i guess thats because our cars have a lot of low end torque? .. I'm not sure .. but you can get grounding wires and it reduces lag, thats what i hear from puria and i'm about to do that after i get my Z-tube and PC

That's cute...I seem to remember having no trouble keeping up with you on the way home after that drive to the winery!

I'll throw in my 2 cents. For the most part I drive in the MM mode except during really bad stop and go traffic. I've actually learned to drive stick since I've bought the car so it's allowed me kind of do a comparison between the two. Although it's not as responsive as an actual manual the MM mode is probably as close as you can get. The 'upshifts' in low gear 1-->2 and 2-->3 are the slowest...probably like half a second but it gets me through traffic just fine and I'd say 14.5 @ 97.5MPH in the 1/4 mile is pretty good for an automatic

I personally don't know if a grounding kit helps b/c when I installed mine it killed my remote start/alarm so I had to take it out.

I'd have to agree. It really lags between these gears. I find myself just flooring it and then upshifting while on the gas still and it helps a bit but I get a jerk when doing so.
