truck tire = cracked oem lip

well, just a piece of it. but at 80mph, it managed to crack my oem lip and dented the center bottom of the bumper slightly from my brief inspection. What should i do? Im thinking of just replacing it with another oem lip which might cover the dent on the lower portion of the bumper. I don't really have the money to get a new bumper and paint it unless i can find one dirt cheap. Let me know if anybody see any for sell cheap locally. the one day i decided to take the G to work

Nothing against Raffi or anything but I go to Revision Autobody next to Raffi. They have sponsorship with DTM and I know the owner Mark. You can take it to both places and see how much it will cost. I'm pretty sure both places do a very good job.

i think the lip is not repaireable since poly is hard to repair..i think. The bumper, is slightly dented at the lower part, which i think mostly will be covered by the lip. I'm thinking maybe the ING+1 lip since it's bigger and cover more of the lower oem bumper. I think Klumzee sell for $275, raw, but i don't know how much prepping and priming is required to add on to the cost of the bumper. I don't think i will replace the bumper unless i get a sick deal on an aftermarket bumper. OEM lip is like $350 now so i'm not really trying to spend more than $500 on any other after market options. I might swing by raffi today on the way home .

Yoo, thats funny.. The same exact thing happened to me in June. It was around 11 at night, and I hit a truck tire on I-95S, it split my bumper in two pieces, as well as dislodging my radiator and front driver side strut. Make sure you check out the radiator for damages! I got the Nismo bumper from Klumzee and it wasn't too bad, about 650$ for prep/paint/install.

See, I don't want to spend money on a piece, then to spend more for prepping it. I'll check the radiator, it was pretty low and quick impact that snaped the lip. I hope it didn't touch my radiator. I might run it through the insurance and get a new bumper and lip if it's going to cost me more than the OEM lip.

I think pratik's lip was a data rep and that looks like the Intense lip as well. I need OEM to cover the holes that's already in my bumper. The data lip doesn't come up on the side to cover the hole i drilled for the oem lip.

the best thing to do when things like this happen, is to pull over, assess the damage really fast, run back in the car, forget it all happened, get drunk and fall asleep, then wake up the next morning, try not to be too hungover its time to face the facts, then cry.

Yea, I went through the insurance, I paid 500$ for the nismo bumper, but got reimbursed 615$ for OEM bumper and Lip. Also had to pay an extra 400$ on top of my deductable for the extra labor associated with installing the aftermarket bumper. Overall, not too bad, would have killed me if I had to pay for everything myself :P
GL to ya, if they have to replace both your bumper and lip, then definitely go with the aftermarket bumper.. if only your lip.. your call

Update: ordered my Nismo Urathane bumper today. I will probably let raffi paint and possibly install. I think i'm going to pain the vent/inserts black to accent it as a lof members have done. I bought it from Richiesays, i think he posted in one of our thread before. got a good price from him and offered everything that klumzee did but cheaper with mesh.

Nice. Hope you're going to clearbra it or do something to cover it up or just get it repainted soon. That scoop of a front bumper is going to attract a lot of crap on these roads.
