I've heard Ceramic pads tear into the rotors at a faster rate. The pads don't wear down as fast as Semi-Metallics, but the rotors do. My Infiniti service rep was telling me this just last week. He mentioned that it will save money vs. the OEM setup, because although the rotors will wear out and need to be replaced somewhat sooner than your rotors will need to be replaced if you have Semi-Metallic pads, he said that with Ceramic pads you won't need to resurface the rotors (costing $250 at the dealer) in the middle of it's lifespan, because the pads will still have life in them and won't need to be changed. Basically, when the pads are gone, the rotors are too. But you'll have to change pads less often and not have to pay for resurfacing at the halfway point of the rotor's life. Does that make any sense?
Any truth to this?

I've had Hawk HPS in my fronts but am thinking of changing to something else. While there's a lot less brake dust I think I want some improved stopping power. The HPS stopping is consistent to OEM. Are Project Mu's better for that?
