Engagement rings
Hello,
I just got engaged over the weekend!
Unfortunately my funds were kind of tight. I paid about $2200.00 for her ring. Cathedral setting, Princess cut, .52 KWT, 14kt white gold, nearly colorless, VS1 clarity.

One method is to just get pink diamonds. The only source is from a kimberlite pipe in Australia. Only prob is that pink diamonds are approx. $30k a carat and that's wholesale price. I learned this from a guy that works for DeBeers.
So save up!
Oh, diamonds is also the biggest fake me out scam ever. Product/Brand marketing at it's highest level. If it was ever sold by it's true intrinsic value, it would be worth more as an industrial commodity than a ring trinket.
Good Luck!

Hey Lek,
Is this the same girl you were talking about at the last HH I went to??? My wife has a 1.35 carat, D, Princess Cut, VS2, platinum band. I paid $7700 for it with the band. Picked it out myself with no help from the wife. I got a pretty good deal on it because I went through a diamond broker whose a friend of a friend. I was mainly focusing on the color and cut of the diamond. I wanted the whitest I could get with the best possible cut.

Buy the cheapest thing you can get away with. If the marriage lasts, spend the big bucks on the 5th year anniversary. I do not want to sound negative for any of you contemplating making a commitment but as unfortunate as it may be, many engagement ring payments outlast the marriage. Spend your money wisely.
