Winter Tires

Any of you guys know if I would be straight if I put 19" blizzacks only on the rears for the winter? I understand it definitly won't be the best but I am curious if it is even worth it.

no way, snow tires for 19s are $$$. id just get a used or crappy set of 17s w/ some snow tires. i think u can get a pair like stanton's for like 800 for 4.

in addition i think getting winter tires is a bit much. we get maybe 4 snow days and those 4 days are liike 2-3''. ive driven the past 2 winters on stock 18'' michelin pilots w/o any probs. just drive slow and careful.

dont listen to lek, he's just paranoid. IF you do get snow tires, just get rears like you stated. steering has nothing to do w/ anything. it's traction you need in snow, steering isnt an issue, you just point and accelerate. it's when you have bald rears or summer rear tires that you cant control the car.

just my .02

your are wrong about just getting rears only.i did that at first and allmost wrecked the car,def get a complete set or dont do it at all.go to tire rack and get the snows with some cheap rims.

^hahaha, If you have all season tires, it's fine. Puria is right, it doesnt snow that much around here. But if you want to get snow tires, get all four. You need traction on all four tires, what's the point of having traction in the rear and not the front...???

haha...thanks for the input guys, so i guess im gonna just lean towards gettin all 4, 19" snow tires...comes out to around 8-9...if i bought 17" snow tires that means i would need wheels and all the ones i want would easily put me over 1600...winter sucks...

Winters here can be a toss up. Either it's mild or drags on. For all those with 19" summer setups, we're probably running summer tires. In that regards, a complete winter setup with rims & tires is needed. 17" setup is fine but some opt for the 18" winter setup mainly for appearance. A 19" winter setup is complete overkill and if you're running 2 sets of tires on 1 set of rims, it's just a big hassle to mount tires each winter/summer. Given it's going to run you $150-200 each time mount and balance, in 2 seasons that would pay for a used set of 17" rims. Also, for winter tires, get them for all 4 corners or don't even bother.
