Road and Track claims to have "confirmed" that Toyota is bringing back the Supra. They "predict" that it could be as soon as a limited release in early 2008.

:-)
Gotta start savin those pennies...

they've been "confirming" and "predicting" since 1995 , if its really coming out in 2008 there would have been factory concepts popping out by now. how long have Nissan been showing official concepts of the GT-R? we have nothing on the supra besides artist renderings... 2008 prediction seems as prudent as their "confirmation."

well see. I hope it happens. i wont be too impressed if it uses a NA DOHC V8 though, the biggest lore regarding the original 2jz was how easy and cheap the bullet proof twin turbo setup was to tune and make insane power. An factory performance DOHC V8 is about as tunner friendly as our car.

our car is front-mid engine (hence our platform is called the FM platform), thats different from mid engine where the engine sits directly behind your drivers seat. just about all RWD sedans and coupes use this configuration now.

I still think they're on the cusp have having a product. I find it hard to think that they plan on existing without a sports car to help pull the line along. Even Honda/Acura have fessed up to a new NSX.
People buy Chevy's because they make the Vette, Fords because of the Mustung/Cobra, Dodges because of the Viper, Nissans because of the Z, etc.
Even if you don't have the car, being able to say that you have a couple parts that are the same give you bragging rights.

Tis only a matter of time

they do... LF-A

when companies plan a sports car, it shows concept cars then mules years before they come out. LF-A concept debuted around the same time the GT-R concept debuted, they've been spied running test laps around Nurburgring since 2004... the time frame from concept to production takes years, such as the next NSX concept which already have factory concepts for years yet hasnt even been in the track testing phase yet.

If Supra is coming out any time soon, there would have been a concept, there would have been a mule running around nurburgring for years like the LF-A and GT-R, M3/5/6, Porche 996, or any other upcoming sports cars. there is not even a supra concept, let alone supra test mule, there is nothing, just the same old rumors since 1995
