wreckless ticket
gene....most of the guys here posting about reckless tickets have a bad record AS IS...i dont think your in the same situation. NORMALLY the judge will look at ur prior record and if he/she see's you just slipped up one time they'll lower it to speeding. thats just my opinion...i was scared too b/c the city of herndon is reeeally strict just like vienna. they need the $$ for the small city so they are real tough. anyways i was goin 52, you were doin 88 so its also a lil different. but i still think if u got a good record from teh DMV that u might be ok. go get a copy of ur driving record cost me $10...if ur +4 to 2 ....id think about the lawyer...
btw lawyer wanted around 500-750..and even then theres no guarantee...u simply plead guilty w/ an explanation. i told them i understand what i did was wrong, however it was dark/late i was moving with other traffic...after about 3 min she said reduced to speeding..have a good day...pay up front.
paid 150 in fines, got 3 pts but i already had 4 plus points. in addition im gonna take that driving class to make it better... you could even take driving class prior to court and even use that to help the judge lower ur sentence...

That's not true...The guy in front of me when i went to court had no ticket but got a weckless driving ticket too had 30 day suspension but the judge let him have a restricted license..Meaning he can drive only to work and home...If they pull him over he goes to jail...

Get a lawyer. Even with a good record, it is better to have a representative to talk to the Prosecutor before you go before the judge. That can only happen on the morning of the trial, but at least you can determine if you're getting a good plea, if you want to take your chances with the judge and try the case, or more importantly, the lawyer will know the prosecutor and the judge, so if you are unlucky and get hardasses, they will know and can advise you to continue (i.e., postpone) the trial which you are allowed to due once automatically.
If you don't get a lawyer, you can negotiate with the Prosecutor via the police officer who gave you the ticket. With or without a lawyer, get your car callibrated and take an online driver improvement class for VA (www.trafficschoolonline.com) for +5 voluntary points on your license (if VA license). If you need a lawyer, I posted the one I used for my reckless ticket in Fairfax on Devon's thread about a lawyer.
