Well I dont nkow too much about gas and compounds however something interesting going on in my area. There's a local Citgo on Route 118 in Germantown that offers premium at $3.19. All the other gas stations in the area are offering premium at around $3.30. Why the big price difference?

The Citgo was closed down for a few days a few weeks ago and now they have 10% Ethanol written on all the pumps. I'm assuming this is why its offered at cheaper rates and I think this has something to do with new gasoline regulations?

Where it says most of us drive with some sort of ethanol in our gas. I'm just wondering about the long term effects if any at all. I cant say I've monitored my gas mileage but even a decrease of 1MPG, still makes it better to pay for the higher gas.

 

I notice that gas station was closed a few weeks ago too. I just thought they ran out of gas. If you look around, there are Cheveron stations that have premium for $3.19 as well. Btw, do you live off of Rt-118?

 

Which station is that? Is that the one behind Pizza Hut or the one closer to Wisteria? Ethanol should be fine. You should get about the same in gas mileage; if anything maybe a tad better. Indy cars use 10% ethonal and 90% methonal as fuel. In 2007 they are switching to 100% ethonal. We've been using 10% ethanol for awhile. It has been more common in the midwest though. I wouldn't expect much difference in long term effects on the car.

 

The one closer to Wisteria. I thought it was closed so they can set up this 10% conversion for ethanol. Not sure.

damn yall gas is 3.19 to 3.30, mine is only 3.02 and its not ethanol..hopefully they would get it around my way soon so gas would be around 2.90 or less....*crossing fingers*

They've been using E10 lots of places for years, I'm not too worried about the effects. I filled up with it for the first time last week, I'll compare the mileage after my next fill up.

 

There's an exxon up my street that has it...I didn't put it in the G though... I used it when the van needed gas.

 

My brother told me once that ethanol burns hotter, which is worse for your car especially when pushing it to it's limits. It's all second hand though, so I don't know if that's true or not.

 

According to the news the reason that stations are closing is for the Ethanol change. Ethanol is basically paint thinner. The stations tanks had to be cleaned so that the ethanol would'nt strip the insides of the tanks and deposit it in your tank.

 

I just paid 2.9 at shell the other day ... thats the cheapest i've found around my house

damn ford foucs....but makes no diff cause i refill 2 or 3 times a week...thats almost a 100 dollars...the g's gas lasted at least 6 days for me at the most

 

really? .. man lately a full tank lasts me like 4-5 days max .. and i havent even been driving that much ..

 

^ then stop speeding...j/k well my G usually sits outside of either my house or the Mall...my commute isnt far anyway...but i know when i finally have places to go i might max out 4 or 5 days
