Nooice pics, the car looks fantastic....I see you dont run the front mudflaps...I may be misremembering but didn't you have issues with some paint contamination from brake dust or somthing...does not using the front mudflaps affect it?

Thanks! Good eye, wow! You are the first person to notice that. I actually took the fronts off because they were pretty beat up and also so that I could wrap the lower section of the side sills in carbon fiber. I tried to also remove the rear mud flaps/splash guards, but the dealership I got it from painted right over them when they repainted the bumpers so there was no way to remove them without cracking the paint.
So I have been planning to eventually upgrade the rear rotors to the Z1 2pc. units and they are on sale right now, but still pretty pricey at $583 and that is only in the "sprinkle slot" configuration which is not the same as the front 2pc. Z1 rotors I have in the "slotted" set up. I am trying to justify the cost, as they only save 5 lbs/side. I am leaning toward getting another Sparco seat on the passenger side instead.
Anyone have the Z1 2pc. rear rotors? Did you notice much difference? I noticed with the front 2pc. that save twice the weight that it seemed to accelerate just ever so slightly better.
surprised the G37 sedan does so well on a track wouldnt think it would be that great at handling as the other cars
It has remarkably good handling (especially for a sedan) and great steering which are both probably due to it's 370Z chassis and suspension. The issue is power on the straights. There are so many cars with 700-1,000+ hp now that the cars I catch in the corners pass me on the straights. At least this is the issue with Road America due to its number of long straights because it was built back in the 1950's when 100 hp was a lot.

Spring Fling at Road America - Northwoods Shelby ClubI just signed up and my car should be pretty well sorted by then. My next project is to try high temp (up to 2000 degrees) header paint on the inner surface of the front Z1 2pc. rotors to see if it will hold up. The black paint they use melted right off on my first track day. And that was with brake ducts!?!
How long can one expect to do track days on a stock motor without issue? I drive fast on the track, but it is not often and I try not to abuse the machinery. I also try to use the best products to protect the vehicle for longevity. I have been doing track days on a number of cars for probably 15+ years and I have never had an issue. Does that seem odd?
I've run five or six with my G with only a recalcitrant TCU the only problem. And it straightens up with cool down.
Well that is good to hear. I try to get the most out of my lap times, but with smooth driving and I probably shift a touch early. I figure going (relatively) easy on the machinery will pay dividends for years to come. Hopefully, I am right as it is still awful fun to surprise Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes, and M3's at track days.
I did another track day at Road America on Sunday and again had a lot of people ask me if the car was supercharged or turbocharged. Nope, but I do know how to brake and take a corner. It was funny when people with more power than me would let me by on the long straights after I caught up to them in the corners. My power disadvantage was clearly on display, but the handling and braking are still strong suits of the car.

To keep tabs on the condition of the motor, get a used oil analysis. It will tell you everything you need to know
The biggest issue with the our engine is high oil temps which increases the amount of lead in the UOA mostly from the crank/con rod bearings not liking the thin oil.

So what do you look for in an oil analysis and where do you get it done? I know what you mean about high oil temps. My oil cooler is pretty important on track days.
