Which pads is he using? It sounds like the fresh rotors have more metal to absorb heat, and probably have a better cooling design. Knockback is always an issue with BBKs.

If he likes Hawk pads, have him try Blue. Note that Blue's are corrosive .

Carbotech also makes pads for the Akebonos; try XP10 all around.

The place I go for my brake job. Also carry Carbotech. They recommended either Hawk ceramic or the Carbotech. I chose Hawk because I never heard of Carbotech in the past.

Do you think Carbotech is better? I wear my pads out every 8-9 month. Is it OK to give Carbotech a try?

Carbotech XP10 is a full race pad, but its ceramic, so it won't eat your rotors when they're cold. I street drive on my race pads . It doesn't hurt that the dust isn't corrosive either and is easy to just rinse off, although I never clean my wheels...

in order of MOT: XP8, HP+, XP10/Blue, XP12.

Try XP10, and if they fade or get uneven wear, go to XP12.

You *should* resurface your rotors when swapping pad brands.

The Carbotechs are easier to modulate than the Hawk Blues.

i run XP10 all around. definitely the way to go. i can also verify everything mike said about carbotech behavior. they dust easily, but cleans off with simple wipes. they will make your G37 sound like a bus. i used to use pmu bforce but even those started to fade on the track. XP10 has never faded (RBF600 fluid).

btw, buttonwillow with SV on the 19th coming up soon. my friends and i need 2 more people to get the group discount. any interest?

Speed Ventures - Track Event Detailed Information

joo: are you running camber arms up front? it seems -0.5 is the max in the front without camber arms.

Got it I am always open minded for different products. Plus the pads are good at the track, and great on the street. Easy to maintain. Sounds just like what I have been looking for.

I do group buy on both motul engine oil and brake oils. So I have plenty in stock right now. RBF's under 10, and motul 300V power racing little over 20. If you guys want I can grab extra cans.

Well if the Carbotech sounds like a bus my Hawks like to whistle. I wonder how's the duet of Carbotech and Hawks at the Buttonwillow.

Buttonwillow, Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!! my friends are going. Do you want to join their group? Just call Speedventures and tell them you are in the David's Group, from LA. And you will get either transponders or discount. I was at the buttonwillow few weeks ago, and a friend from Brazil is coming to visit us. So I will not be able to go this time.

Yes I am running upper arm on the front. Rear is just stock. I don't know exact camber on it now. But the guys at the Evasive gave me spec sheet after alignment. I will post online. Maybe Mike could take a look at and suggest few changes. If you are looking for camber arms get Eibach. Eibach resells SPC camber kits for the front and rear, for our car. They are the exact same with SPC engraved on the kits, but the good part is Eibach sells them cheaper.

If you're worried about noise, and are willing to change your own pads, run Carbotech AX6 or 1521 for street driving. They make no noise, and don't require you to re-bed when you swap to XP10s.

After the track I replace my own with Hawk Ceramics.

oh oh can you pm me? also, you say you dont need rebed for AX6 or 1521 street pads? i assume no rebed needed for both AX6/1521 -> XP10 and XP10 -> AX6/1521. this sounds awesome because i would get really bad "warping" of my rotors that i attributed to uneven pad deposit possibly due to pmu and carbotech pad swaps (or maybe the pmu pads are just junk).
