Played Hooky on Monday & went to the track...

So my pals convinced me to join them for a day of High Performance Driver's Education through an outfit called Hooked on Driving.

Monday's event was at Poconos International Raceway where we enjoyed the 1.2 mile North Course set up. What a great day! Although I have my National SCCA license, I have never tracked my own car - always leased vehicles via a series.

The G was very predictable and capable on the track. She performed well & got lots of props from the other drivers.

Here are a few select photos...

My new buddy's Rousch Mustang 427

and, of course my G

Knowing nothing about tracking your ride, (that will probably be obvious from my questions) what's with the blue tape over the lights? Also, did you drive it top up or down?

The blue tape simply protects the lights from debris - if you break a lens, not only is it expensive but it could be very dangerous to others with all that glass flying around. It is not required to tape the lights but I prefer to use it.

Since the G Vert has a retractable roll bar I could have driven with the top down but, once again, just to err on the side of caution and god forbid it all went wrong, having the top up would offer more protection from bodily harm so that's how I ran.

I would highly recommend a HPDE event for anyone interested in improving thier skills, having fun and learning more about thier rides capabilities.

The top is not structural on the vert; it would offer no additional protection.

Any mods to the car?

Nice. Poconos is a fun place to drive. Been on the FUSA track in the dry and wet on bikes and did the North course in a GTS Viper (just scary) and a 350MB 4matic (actually pretty fun).
