We may pick up a 2009 370Z and turn that into our track/test mule for the 2010 season.
In a straight line the 335/135 has the G37 beat. But the BMW's have some inherent suspension geometry shortcomings that the G doesn't have. If you were to put $20K into either car, the G37 would probably have the BMW's beat.
As far as the fan base, a die hard BMW fan will NEVER like a G, and vice versa. They come from two very differnt schools of thought. I will say that the G37 has got a much nicer interior and is a better all around daily driver than the BMW though. But I love all things that go fast. I don't really care what it is.
We've raced a 135i for half of 2008 and with a little work can be turned into a formitable track car. We have about $15K into this car so far. Haven't taken it to the drag strip but we're running 2:03's on street tires at Buttonwillow 13CW. That's on par with a Porsche 997 GT3.

From 80-135 I destroyed him by 2 cars
The other night I raced a gray one from a 20 roll and jumped on him about 3/4of a car, in second gear he creeped up to about the middle of my door and i kept that lead until 80 and then had to let off.
So idk y u guys think the 335i is so much faster than our cars. I'm almost positive they have us from a dig but a rolling race is G37 all the way, and my G37 is a stock 5AT.
One of the great things about the G37 is that it keeps making power all the way to redline. The bimmers HP & TQ drop like a ROCK after 5K RPM.
When you're doing freeway blasts (higher RPM, higher gearing), the G37 continues to make more power as RPM's rise. Whereas the bimmers, power is dropping big time after 5K.
