Yes I have taken both 08' 335i and 09' G37S to racing track. Both stock.

G37 is better because...
1. 335i even with extra oil cooler, oil temperature will get very hot and once limp mode kicks in limiter will not let you go over 4K RPM.
2. Shiftronics on 335i, on higher RPM lags. Most of the time at the track you are not able to shift down to 2nd gear. Get 335i manual like G37S.
3. High speed tracks, 335i seems to lack that extra HP to push the car. Once you go past 100mph. Undoubtedly the 335i has more torque on lower speed. But on higher speed G37 is better.
4. 335i traction control kicks in too ofter. Even turning off, it is always there.

335i is better because....
1. Suspension on 335i, soft yet responsive. So you can have more feel for the track. G37S is just hard, and less predictable.
2. G37S under steers a lot. 335i for my driving style is just right. If 1 is under steer and 10 is over steer. 335i is a 6. Responsive, but no fear of spinning.
3. Torque, yes lots of them. I just regret I have not tuned ECU. "juice box".

Over all track and off the track. I am more pleased with G37S.

BMW nav is just horrible. To get all the gadgets, 335i was too expensive. A standard feature with or without NAV. on G37 comes with a panel screen. On 335i if you don't get "horrible useless", NAV there is no screen.

Other than above I like BMW, I still feel sorry. Because I was forced to file "LEMON", and BMW agreed to buy back the car. 1 1/2 year of owning the 335i, it spent 1/2 a year at the BMW Center.

So if you want to track your BMW, lease one. after 4 yrs you will regret.

Issue I had with 335i
1. Fuel Pump malfunction x4 (BMW agreed to extend warranty to 80K miles)
2. Piston Miss fire. x5
3. Injector malfunction x2
4. Loss of power
5. Limp Mode on a 90+ degree day, not even tracking.
6. There are two cup holder on Passenger side. One I had to reach far to open and close. Broke after a year.
7. On a brand new 335i, problem started at 5K miles.

Issue I had with G37S
1. none for 3/4 year. 8K miles.

wow! exactly my impressions on both when i drove my friend's 07 335 coupe at streets of willow 2 years ago. i do disagree with one point on where i did find the 335i was a bit more tail happy and harder to control all out in the corners...but that torque just pushes you out of them so much better. i do find the steering feel on the 335 was much better.

both are great cars and relatively equal i have to admit.

It has softer suspension, so if you push beyond limit you will spin, which is quite easy will all that torque. However it is not a feeling of sudden abrupt spin. I felt very predictable, and recoverable drift.

For my driving style, I would prefer if G37S steering is little bit more responsive.

^ sorry to say but it probably is, that's probably why you got the car for such a good deal. i'm not hating on the 335. i was also interested in that too but after reading the countless fuel pump complaints i realized why they are selling for so cheap.

oh yea, my friend's 335 sedan just got out the shop for the same issue.

It probably is not.

Many 09's and 2010's have no issue at all.
07's have issue with oil cooler. But if your car is late 08's or newer. You don't have to worry. And if you happen to have issue. I believe your warranty is still covered. Since it is certified pre-owned BMW.

If you encounter problem, make sure to tell your service manager. To extend warranty on Fuel pump, and injectors. Which is covered by BMW North America. BMW USA will not extend to all 335i. You have to ask for the extension and BMW North America will send you letter, informing you got extended warranty.

I have yet to go for service on my G37S, so I can't say none about infiniti. But with my numerous visits to BMW Service Center. The service is very good.

selling so cheap ?........thats the first time in several month when i saw it for so low......thats why i pulled the trigger.

I understand that things break, but thats why its certified till 2013. I always thought that Audi A4s are bad, yet, mine havent been in the shop even once...although its chipped.

My M3 was in the shop about 3-4 times in one year and yet i dont regret the purchase because the car is simply amazing....

in any way, cant wait to pick it up. I loved my M3, love my A4, hopefully will love this car too.

So, you own a "chipped" a4, CPO 335, and a M3.

I'd like to see registrations for all 3 in your name. You can black out the VIN and addresses.

I don't get it. You're afraid to run a G37 up to redline. If you had a E92 M3, or even a E46 M3, they're both high revving cars. A A4 from a M3 of either generation is a pretty big downgrade, but you flashed the A4 for more boost.

I'd take a E46 M3 over a 335 any day, since "you like to go fast all the time"

Oh, I forgot that Infiniti offers a better warranty than BMW.... redline away.

I know some track guys that already got new VQ37VHRs.... but thats cuz the engine wasn't ever designed to see sustained lateral G loads... but neither is a N54.

I don't get why you're so scared of redlining the G?
Do you drive your G at red line point all day long ? If the answer is no then you dont use your full HP or TQ. The beauty of chipped A4 or 335i is that you have near 300lbs of tq available to use even at 1.5-1.8k rpms. (2.8k for chipped A4)

You need to do more research if you plan on bashing them at least

check out the tq baseline on this dyno
