Agreed, being a previous owner of a 335i they are pretty much equal. If anyone is able to honestly say they can tell the difference in .1 seconds I would have to call B.S. it's to small of a number to actually be able to feel the difference. Drivers race 100% ,as for mods well it doesn't matter what you drive, it's who has the bigger wallet.

OK guys... let's not become "fanboys" like those on the BMW forums. The bottom line is the 335i is faster than the G37s. Here are the numbers from the Motor Trend comparison... same day, same track...

1/4 mile:
G37s - 14s at 100.9mph
335i - 13.7 at 104mph

0 to 100mph:
G37s - 13.9s
335i - 12.7s

Bottom line is the 335i is .3 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile (and also in the 0-60) and that is probably most of a car length. At the 1/4 mile the BMW is pulling ahead more (higher speed). The 1.2s difference to 100mph is significant.

Why does this matter anyway?? The G37s is FAST. So what if the 335i is faster (and it is unless the 335i driver is an idiot)? The G is every bit as good of a car overall for WAY less money. I would take the G over the 335i anyday even if I lose a stop light to stop light sprint (not that I would ever take part in such an event ).

I owned a 328i and part of what I like about the Infiniti crowd is they are willing to admit when another car is better in certain ways. The BMW forums are populated by fanboys who would never admit the G37 even competes (but it DOES for sure). Let's not all come down with a case of "fanboy-itis" fever! The G is GREAT and a wonderful car but it will see the 335i's tailpipes, stock for stock, every time.

Take this nonsense someplace else. You posted numbers so cite your sources. You're being called out so I hope you answer.

BTW: I am pretty positive that the 0-100 is in the 13s for the 335i when stock.

Bboy... I quoted my source in my post (see above)... it is Motor Trend http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...335/specs.html

So.. having been "called out", my source is noted. Like I said the G is a GREAT car but will see 335i tailpipes every time assuming similarly skilled drivers. You don't have to like it but it is a fact.

Glad you put the link there. Still a drivers race IMO. Not a big fan of Motortrend though. They kinda suck nowadays. That 12.7 number seems a little weird to me if it tops out at 104 in their quarter mile test. It takes another second to complete the quarter mile and get 4 more mph? That doesn't seem so great. I would love to see some real track numbers on these two cars since that is where their strength is. They are not really 1/4 mile cars but in that race it is a drivers race. Anyone know of a company/magazine that does performance tests of these cars on a track and gives those times. I know they do that for the high end cars (GTR) but haven't seen it for the middle class.

Maybe.

My point though is that it doesn't matter. For $500, a 335i driver can add 75hp and absolutely destroy a G37s. Stock for stock, it is a faster car with more torque down low (300 lb/ft at 1,400 rpm) so the 335i driver would have to be pretty bad to lose.

BUT, like I have said many, many, many times... the G37s is the better overall car when you consider luxury, interior, handling, power, looks and price. If someones primary measure of a car's "worth" is its speed, then the 335i is the better car and you should not buy a G37. If you want a great, well rounded package for a reasonable price then the G is KING!!

If all you want to do is kill other cars in 1/4 mile times, you would buy a used C6 Corvette. A G coupe is a LUXURY sport coupe and is much more than a 0-60 time. There are many faster cars. I saw a posted time for a Hyundai Genesis in a recent car mag (I think it was Motor Trend) and it was running 5.5 ish to 60 mph... that's a drivers race with a G37s and it is a HYUNDAI!! Don't get me wrong, the G is fast but it will lose to many cars and that's OK. It's more than a 0-60 car.

P.S.... to ALL G37s owners, PLEASE, PLEASE do not come down with a case of "fanboy-itis". It is obnoxious and annoying. Let's all realize there ARE better, faster, more luxurious cars out there and that is OK. The G37s is AMAZING as it is and should all be able to admit when something else is a little better in some aspect... like the 335i in terms of speed.

Well i have driven the 335i, have to say they are very similar in speed , but the 335i is a tick quicker. Were i tell you it would be very tight is if both are roling, or on the highway. From a head start to quarter mile i see the 335i taking it. Though i find my g37 much funner to drive and value for price is much better. I am pretty sure though the G can take the S5 if both cars are rolling, not gonna say how i know, not supposed to . Anyways should be going to the tracks soon and will tell u how much i was able to do the quarter mile.

Maybe at sea level they are the same but at altitude I can't even come close to the 335.
Like BBoy I am also in Colorado Springs (6300ft). Unlike BBoy, I have yet to mod.
I can't wait for the (resonably priced) TT kits for our car. I don't really care about getting 450-500+ HP, I just want what's lost at altitude plus a little bit more.

I matched a stock 335i at our altitude. The 335i is faster off the line but you start to catch up when you hit 2nd.

having driven the 335i at streets of willow...the 335i has the edge in a straight line. it just delivers more torque through a wider band. end of story...having said that, the G37 is more fun to drive. there is something about being able to stay in the red and wind up an engine that seems more involving that a fat power band assisted by 2 snails. at redline the 335i still picks up, but it's without drama.

fyi-i only got to take the 335i for a few laps until it went to limp mode. it was my friend's car and he never got to drive it. we had to tow her to a dealership.....$230 track day / limp mode after 30 min of track time = pwnage...lol.
