I'll be quick here.....and no offense to anyone....

First of all my background:

I am 30. 1st car was 95 Maxima Auto, 2nd 98 Maxima 5-sp, 3rd E46 M3 SMG, 4th Audi A4 2.0T 6-sp, 5th (picking up soon) 335i 6-sp.

Right after Maxima my dream car was G35 coupe. After quick test drive of M3 and G35, I obviously chose M3. After M3 I looked at 328i, G37S, and Audi A4 2.0T. I didn't like G37S from the start, 328i was too expensive for me back then, and I went with A4 (later chipped to Stage 1, around 240-245hp 270-280tq).

A few weeks ago I decided to switch to G37S (give another shot) or 335i. After test driving both it became pretty clear that 335i is superior car....
I dont know if people are blind here or just close their eyes, but to me G37S has interior quality of my girlfriend's Civic (which is not bad, but definitely not to German standards) , while fully loaded 335i is a pure luxury car. G37S that I test drove had only 28k miles and yet lots of major wear was noticed on plastics and seats, the car felt underpowered, and the steering felt too loose... The car was probably just a bit faster then my chipped 2.0T A4.....

That said, G37S is probable more reliable, cheaper, has better traction on wet roads due to LSD.......its a big mistery to me why BMW does not have one, i guess they wanted new m3 to stand out more.

and the beauty of Turbo engines is that on my A4 I never have to redline it. at around 2.8K RPMs I get my full 280tq and the car flies......so pretty much without abusing the car, I can enjoy 280tq every minute I drive, be it stop light, highway, or twisties.....

Yeah,, the G37 has the interior of a new civic, I guess thats better than the 335s interior of a 1988 bmw 325i

i'll take offense to the stupid "interior of a civic" statement. my brother has an 08 civic si, and while the interior in it is good, it is nothing compared to a g37's interior. i did also test drive both a 135i and a 335i, and i do have to say that the interiors in both cars are boring and no better than what the g37s has to offer. if you wear clothing with metallic bits/zippers, and jewelry that can scratch the g37s interior, and if you just plop into the leather seats with a wallet or whatever else in your a$$ pocket, not giving a **** about wear, then yes, you can and will wear out the interior of the g37, or any other car's interior for that matter.

I do like that the backseat is a tad roomier in the 335i coupe and it even has an armrest you can lower which is a rare feature in a 2+2 coupe. We have that hard plastic in the middle. I'd love to put something there that looks good and serves as an armrest lol.

With your logic, your A4 must SMOKE your M3.

Do a 65 roll stock G37 vs 335. G will win every time. Simple physics, which go beyond the "x feels faster than y"

Go buy a Diesel truck. You'll be happier. Cuz, ya know, running full boost for that torque is easier on the engine than redlining

Yeah......its just that i am not 16 and i dont do 65 rolls or 0-60s. I prefer sort of fast driving in all conditions without killing my car....i obviously not gonna redline g37s every time i get a chance....

I can agree that base interior of 3s is borring and sort of like g37s, but once u get sport package, premium leather, navigation with idrive and AL trim.......there is no comparison. Of course g37 has luxury Japanese interior, all i am saying is that materials used look cheap, and yes they look the same or cheaper then in civics. I've seen 2 Gs with around 30k miles and both had more then normal wear, and my buddy and my gf have civics with 70-80k and 0 wear. i had fully loaded maxima with 130k and 0 wear.......

I really don't see where you get the "cheap interior" idea from the G...maybe it's just me but I really find the G's interior well done. Is it the quality of a Maserati? Of course not...but to compare it to that or lower of a Civic? Come on, that's just totally off base IMO

its not just you, everyone finds G's interior well done in this forum

Its just I look at pictures and G's interior looks VERY good, but in person I have experienced otherwise.....and I am not talking about the wear here, just cheap materials all around.

The only think I can think of is the vinyl...what cheap materials? I know some people have had problems with the leather but I've been taking care of it with leather care products since day 1 and it looks/feels great.

well, center consul killed it for me almost instantly......

ps. When I was choosing between G37S, A4, and 328i (fully loaded coupe), I asked my GF about interior....she put it in this order 328i > A4 > G37S

are you talking about the touch screen/climate control/etc? how is that cheap? that is the last thing I would think of as being cheap products...

and I really don't want to sound like an @ss in asking this, but did she base it off what looked good/functioned best/had enough storage for her stuff/etc

So you like paying an extra few grand for Dakota leather over leatherette (aka plastic), which makes the BMW interior better than the Infiniti?

You'd rather boost 11 psi at low RPM rather than rev high? Your understanding of physics is clearly more than that of a 16 year old, but less than that of a 18 year old; most high school seniors with a decent amount of intelligence take physics.

Why do you think all the high end BMWs all use high revving engines instead of turbos? *cough* M3, M5 Oops?

Fast driving in all conditions? So you don't drag race, you want handling. Oh, wait. The G is already superior in that dept.

So, you drive a ratty old car, but the BMW is better because it costs nearly 20k more than the G, fully loaded. You can buy about 8 Maximas with 130k miles on them for that difference.

Or, you can lets see. Turbo the car (10k), get JRZs (7k), supporting mods (3k).

Didnt really like Al trim..., too many buttons, armrest part and where the cup holders are looked cheap. She based it only on looks.

Believe me, i would rather buy G37 for LSD, probably better reliability, and maybe a better price (talking about used cars here).......but I went with 335I

You see, quite a few Infinity people go BMW route, and yet not many BM people choose Infinity......I based this from reading G35/37 forums....

What qualifies your GF to be an interior "judge" anyways? Hell, she chose you for a boyfriend to start with hahaha just messing

I guess it's a matter of preference really, you're on a G37 forum so you know which one everyone prefers
