shift **** not in park when it is?

So today, i decided on working on getting my center console out and my radio console pieces off the manual says to put in Neutral before removing the shift **** and center console. So i do that. Everything went smooth until i put back the pieces together. then it tell me Park up shift...or more like shift to park but when i do it does not read it or sense it. Anyone experience problem or know how to fix it?<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Did you disconnect the battery before you did the work and leave it disconnected until you got everything done and it back in park?

when you put the shift console back on, did you stick the shifter through the square piece underneath that slides. Sounds like you might not have and its not letting it go all the way up into park.
