Official *MN G CREW* rAnDoM chat thread/room
Whats up everyone - cant wait for this weekend, heading to Oregon for the big game this weekend against Stanford. College Gameday will be hosted there and Carrie and I are camping out all night to try and get front row with a sign we made. It will be on at 9 am on ESPN saturday, so many funny signs shown throughout the show. If no one watches it here is how crazy it gets:

Steady working on improving the G.
Got the 9500ix installed with stealth cord and blendmount.
Got 30% tint all around and 50% on the windshield just today.
Working on getting the stereo up to my standards. Have a post going in the audio/electronics section. Not a whole lot of feedback so far but I have been researching everything a lot.
Yo MN-G-FEVER, let me know what sign you'll be holding up. I usually got that on in the background.

Glad to see you finally got an engine Bruce!
I don't mean to burst your bubbles, but radar detectors are a false sense of security. My good friend is an officer for new hope and I actually install the radars the police use in their cars. the technology they use is basically designed to out smart a detecter. And if a cop is using a radar gun he can literally pull the trigger the moment he sees you, your radar will go off but hes already got his hand on the switch to flick the lights and pull you over. I would never get one unless it scrambled but even then, scetchy! All i'm saying is don't ever rely on one.
^'Instant on' is that technique used by a lot of cops these days (law enforcement in my family lol) but there are ways Radar Detectors CAN help you just cant RELY on it and thats where they get people into trouble.
If you know how to work it, and what to look for, you can usually outsmart the LEOs. Unless they have laser, then your boned. But KA band, your good to go if you know how to drive effectively while using the detector.
When I got pulled over for my front plate and tint in St Cloud about a month ago, I was originally speeding, enough to get a ticket, but my V1 helped me out by picking him up AS he was instant oning the people in front of me (good radar detector ftmfw)
On a flat surface, i can pick up a KA band for up to seven miles... this things paid itself off over and over. I still recommend them, i just dont condone driving like a jackass because you think you can get out of it with a detector lol.

I thought the 50% windshield tint was fine at night. It's noticeably different but I don't think it will cause me issues. I think the biggest concerns would be pedestrians with dark clothing or maybe a deer would be harder to see if your headlights are not directly on them.
I drive for a living so 20-25k miles a year. Keeping my license is very important and normally I'm just 5 over but if the detector saves me on one ticket then for me its more than paid for itself. Hell my grandma got the first ticket of her life at 70 years old for 5 over on 169. I'll take any help I can get.

Forgot if I ever mentioned before - Ryan (Duff) and I work together. I fix MFP's (HP all-in-ones) and he fixes everything else. Lots of running around for the both of us all the time.
But yeah - Bug - Having a detector isn't going to help if you're the one that got picked off. Once it detects, its too late. But cops don't just sit on the side of the road and wait for you to come by - they pick out certain cars that raise their interest and flag them. Basically you just need to hope that you aren't that car first. It's all about hedging your bet I guess.

I have never owned one personally and haven't gotten a ticket for speeding. However, it would be nice to have one just to give me a slightly better change sometimes than just not having one all together. I choose when I "speed" fairly carefully, and tend to stick to about 5 over when just driving.
There have been times when I have been riding in Janik's car when his detector has gone off and we are both looking for the cop. Well he finally comes like 4 miles later. To me that is very impressive.
I do agree that one shouldn't rely on one though and think you can drive like your not even detectable. That would be dumb

Tien was all about the windshield tint the other day. It was like he was running a special. I tried asking him about some 70% and he kept telling me that 50% would be fine. That's straight up gangnam style if you ask me.
Well, it looks like my car will be racking up a couple thousand more miles, and getting some sun without me. Dad's MDX dropped it's trans in IA. Got towed and is now taking mine to El Paso.
At least he can see what it's like to drive a real car. lol. That, and my Uncle in Ruidoso, NM details - so my dad is gonna have my car hooked up down there while he has it (he'll be gone for a couple of weeks with it)
