Hey Curt, check it out here. I can't post on FB cuz I'm "supposed" to be working this morning. https://www.myg37.com/forums/picture...idip-work.html It's plasti dip, its a removable paint you can spray on in 4 or so coats and it peels off like cellophane. Note I had to do my grille twice, and after the debacle this morning/last night I will also be doing the trim around my doors twice too......FML!

Next week is my last week here. However, i do come back on some weekends and could potentially do it one of those. But next week I'll be around! Hell, I may even be able to do it Monday the 15th. When are you thinking its gonna be back together??

Ah, very interesting. I looked at your badges on the back at the dyno meet. They looked nice. I do think the Gs have a little too much chrome on them. I'll need to check out your plastidip stuff a little closer.

I was trying to get my detail in from Janik but I'll hold off til I come back from Cali. I'm taking the G so it doesn't make sense to get a full detail only to have bugs splatter all over it. I'll have him work his magic so she's show ready for our sept 3rd meet

Yea the beauty of it is you can remove it whenever you want to and its like 6 bucks a can. So far I did my rear badge, my grille twice and my window trim once already. I did 5 thick coats on my grille twice and some thick coats on my window trim too. I might do some lighter coats on my window trim this next time around. I figured out if you remove the painters tape when it's wet it won't peel off as easily. So I'm def gonna do that tonight, I really like the look of it with the blacked out chrome....but I hate that my wheels match it so well. Kinda Fs up my theme :$

I did some more digging on this plastidip thing. Looks like a lot of people use it on chrome badging. Works great. I can't believe how many people use it on wheels. Its nice that it comes off so easy if you change your mind later.

Normally you have to scuff up a smooth shiny surface to get primer or paint to stick. Plastidip is a great way around that, and its removable. Very cool.

later,
Curt

AND it's paintable too!!! So you can actually paint your wheels and not have to worry much about it

Janik, I honestly dont know but Im hoping sooner than later. Im pretty sure they way it will work b/c of Murphy s Law is that the day before we leave for WekFest I will be putting the car together. Most likely it will have to be a weekend when your back.

So My paint guy tells me to come today and get the rims b4 I go to work around 12. Shouldnt be an issue since he said 2 are already DONE. Well well what do you know.. they have only been sanded and primed. Now I have to wait till tomorrow which is fine since my car looks like its headed to the junk yard, but was dying to get the wheels on so I can at least take the car off the jack stands. WTF

Damn 6 months. Did you store it in the winter. Is that why?

sold the volks early december and didn't have wheels(work wheels took until May to be done. It was indeed winter, but was still tough seeing the car like that that long, so I know how you feel.

On a side note, I tried to order lanyards for our crew but the minimum order anywhere is 100 for custom lanyards.

Was going to have them read " MN G CREW * MYG37.COM * MN G CREW * MY G37.COM...etc"
(*=infinti symbol)

..might look locally too, but figured online would be the cheapest.

I'm also having Nate make us a custom logo which we could get printed in flat black and just put it on a window(doesn't stick out like a sore thumb and still keeps the car clean)
