3.5'" intake

Did anybody try to run 3.5 intake? If so, does stock MAF sensors can support it(with tune)??

No point in running anything bigger than 3". Hit up Moncef at AdminTuning if you think otherwise.

I only know of 1 person who ran a 3.5" intake setup and that's a guy on Facebook name Zak Craig.

That really looks awesome!
However, the engineer in me only sees all that extra metal surface area to absorb engine heat and since the diameter is so much larger, the air intake velocity is slower, so the air has more time to absorb the heat.

Could you data log your intake air temps and MAF values at wide open throttle?

There is definitely much better throttle response from standing start 2000-4000 rpms. Car moves easier with less hesitation and with less accelerator pedal applied. Rpms really loves to shoot up now.
It is hard to tell any difference in high rpm range without dyno. But car feels good now (lighter feel).
Fyi TB's spacers is good addition if you want to make some more torque.

According to tunner, engine is hitting higher engine loads which on paper means it's moving more air and should be making more power. This is 3.5 vs 2.5 piping.

That is pretty crazy!!!

If on top after tuning maintains to be the same this means you will have benefited more from the VHR runners up there. The problem here is the low end torque you get from the HR is undeniable.

Cool to see such a setup, it clearly has another air option that is being exploited to the max. Should produce some amazing data to determine the ULTIMATE VHR power combo.

With some seat time and ECU "adaptation" after tune, there is definitely torque increase, which butt dyno can detect from 2000-5000 rpms range. Engine reacts much faster down low with same throttle mapping.
Also there is change in engine sound at red line (not intake, but engine).
I was hesitant doing this chimney mod, but now, I approve it

Completely not trying to thread jack, but I just want to mention that I'll be running a unique setup that I haven't see elsewhere either, if you would be interested to hear. I currently have AAM's 2.75" CAI, but I'm having Rej at Rabbit Hole Motorsports fab me up a bellmouth + velocity stack combo to put on it to replace the standard air filters that came with the AAM CAI. I don't think I've seen anyone else run 2.75" piping with bellmouth + velocity stack so I'm interested in how it will perform. I'm hoping to retain most of my low end by sticking with a happy medium between 2.5" and 3" piping, but also gain well in the top end.

Anyway, to get back on topic, that 3.5" intake is massive lol, it looks crazy in the engine bay. I would be interested to see a dyno to see what your power curve looks like.

In my opinion velocity stack on a intake is a must. I would never build an intake without it. I have 6" aluminum bellmouth vibrant installed on my 3.5" version.
