X-pipes, Resonators and Muffler (Custom Exhaust Help)

I知 hoping I can get a bit more help here as the Z forums aren稚 really too hot about custom exhaust setups. I have a 370 but all the same.

My current setup is a non-resonated Xpipe to 18 inch resonators from vibrant. Then to Stillen exhaust mufflers (2.5 inch piping all through). At the time of setup it was loud but after a few months became quiet. Thankfully no drone (maybe I just got used to the drone and exhaust sound).

Anyway, I知 trying something new. I want to do the following:

Magnaflow Resonated X-pipe
18 inch Vibrant Resonators (Or maybe 12inch?)
2.5 inch piping
No mufflers.

Has anyone tried this before? I知 contemplating on resonator sizing. I want to keep the drone down as much as possible but I worry with 18inches the exhaust might be too muffled.

This is a pic of my current setup

The current Stillen muffler in my setup.

I知 looking for something that値l sound louder than a regular Stillen or Invidia exhaust but not as loud as a regular muffler delete.

Op, I'd keep the 18 in resonators and delete the mufflers. Add the res X pipe in place of the X pipe. Essentially creating a motordyne type sound.

Exactly the sound profile I知 thinking it will sound like.

So you think 12 inch resonators will be a bit too harsh right? I am leaning towards keeping the 18s.

I just want to be sure it値l be louder than what I have currently

I don't think the 12 will be too loud but I wouldn't want to risk it being other than you want. You could always swap later. I think the res X and muffler removal is good step. If you have hfc or test pipes definitely see how you like before swapping to 12s. Remember bottle type resonators don't really lower volume or what not they help to clean up unwanted pitch or frequency.

Thanks so much for the help. I will go with the 18 first and then downsize accordingly if necessary. I will add 1/4 wavelength pipes near the tips to combat any drone.

Good idea. I have the motordyne and I'm sure those helmholtz resonators cut rasp. I have none. Zip zero. Also have long tube headers.

If you will remove mufflers, there will be drone guaranteed. If there is no mufflers, Helmholtz is a must to eliminate drone.

Thanks for the info! Do you have experience with this setup I知 attempting? I was thinking that with 18 inch resonators and the Magnaflow resonated Xpipe then I値l be good for drone (minimal) since I知 on stock cats.

My exhaust fabrication guy wants me to first build the exhaust then drive it for a while before determining if I値l need Helmholtz resonators or 1/4 wavelength pipes.

I have y pipe, not x pipe. And yes, i made multi chamber Helmholtz resonator. Since you have stock cats they are drone is not the big issue. But if you will ever go catless or HFC it will amplify drone and rasp for sure... 18 inch resonators will be great to minimize rasp.
