K&N Blackhawk Intake

Hi everyone. This is my first time ever posting to a forum. I usually just read to find the answer, but I don’t know what else to do. I tried installing the K&N Blackhawk intake on my 2011 G37x sedan tonight and had all kinds of problems afterward. It almost felt like the air was completely restricted when I tried to drive it. I could stop, turn it off for about 10 seconds, then turn it back on and hear the amazing sound of the intakes, but power was still lacking. Eventually it went back to the feeling of restricted airflow. Also, after letting it sit and starting it, it would idle very rough, then rev up to about 2500 followed by the stability control light coming on. ????
any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Welcome to the site.

I hope you get some help quickly. I can only suggest using the idle relearn procedure for your nutty idle. Can only make wild guesses about the driveability.

Thanks. I haven’t tried the relearn yet. I’ll have some more time to work on it tomorrow. I put the factory boxes back in last night and it’s running completely normal.

Sounds almost like you missed a vacuum line or electrical connector.

It really does! I went back over everything and it’s all connected. Tried swapping the sensors in case I got those mixed up, no change. All the hoses were connected and clamps were tight. There has to be something wrong. I hope I can work on it tomorrow. Pretty sure I fractured the end of my pinky trying to pull the vent hose off last night 😩

update

2nd install yielded the same results. I called k&n to help troubleshoot and it turns out the mounting bracket for the MAF on the drivers side was welded on backwards. They are overnighting a new pipe.
I cant tell a huge difference in power, but it sure sounds good! And really happy with customer service at k&n, especially since i bought this 2nd-hand.
