drop in intake filters?

drop in intake filters?

would there be any gain in power or sound if i just bought like K & N cold air intake filters without buying the whole intake set up?

You could also do aFe dry filters and probably get similar gains. Someone on the 370 board dynoed drop ins and post MAF tubes and picked up decent gains.

I just purchased and installed the K&N drop in air filters. I feel a decent boost in throttle response, slightly throatier growl on acceleration. But nothing mind blowing. I'm sure a true short ram or CAI would "sound" better. I did a little research and basically came to the conclusion that the stock airbox is very well designed. The simple K&N drop in filters combined with the stock airbox is a easy and inexpensive mod.
